I must say I admire this guy for putting himself up to have bricks thrown at him.
But honestly he lost me right at the beginning when he said they only cover European touring for 90 days. Until the 24th June we are in Europe, why the limitation. I have French cover on my Motor Home which covers me for 365 days a year in any country in Europe or which boarders the Med. Beakdown cover 24 hours a day in all those country's also even Morocco et al. I can happily drive through Croatia without worrying that I have to cross 10 km of Bosnia. The Brits we met had to either take a chance or a ferry and a very long detour.
UK insurers need to take their heads out of their ar**s and realise that retirees with expensive Motor Homes don't need to worry about boarders, mileage limits or time limits. I have been driving my Camping Car for 25 years without a claim or accident other than windscreen and latterly about 30k mileage a year. Insurers have been getting a good premium, which keeps going up but negligible pay out. But in France at least they have no restrictions on use.

My thoughts too ... hate having to sort insurance out...
Many claim to be motorhome specialists yet clearly don't have a clue of common situations or needs of motorhomers ..

same here with my Spanish insurance.
Tell a UK insurer you want cover for "30k /year " they'd want another 5 grand.:D

Hi, We totally understand that there is a demand and a market for Annual EU cover, Insurers however do not typically have a good experience abroad in terms of cllaims, even with even non-fault claims it is quite typical that the cusotmer's Insurer must suffer the loss as the claim is difficult to mediate.

We currently only have 90 day EU product's with extensions available of referral, this suits the vast majority of our enquires 95% inf fact, we are however very sorry that 2Gether are not suitable to your needs.

Happy Tuesday :)

Insurance is a pressured purchased ultimately isnt it, we all have to have it by law, all we as a provider can do is cater for our customers needs . In fairness we rarely are in a situation where we cannot cater for our clients requirements but of course this does happen at times. When we negotiate schemes with our underwriters we have to be able to guarantee certain volumes of business to ensure the viability of a product or scheme, therefore some areas do not have enough support and in some areas Insurers have histroical poor experience, we love feedback but is always nice to get a balance of all experience's good and bad.

Tried an online comparison site this lot was one of the quotes, dearer than current policy and the basic quote had a mileage limit of 3000 hardly enough to get out of the drive.

Just renewed with Comfort 90 quid cheaper than anyone else.

Cheers Joe, I take your point about the volume of business. .but things like milage restrictions and restrictions on eu cover and often breakdown when offered are restrictive and do demonstrate a lack of understanding by the industry of the needs of an ever increasing number of motorhomers... at the minute it just appears to be a way for the premium to be hiked for the additional cover many require...
Hopefully it will change...
Slightly off point but a similar theme is the self build insurance ...
I do understand the problems but I found that to be a minefield and found most insurers even though offering insurance just didn't have a good understanding of self builders real needs..
Anyway rant over .. Thanks again for your time and reply, and I will give you a call next year when I'm looking again ..
Andy.

Just read this thread for the first time. Two things stand out.

Much aggression against the company. The pack spots an intruder.

Company coming across is incompetent. Who ever heard of a insurance company loosing all it's phone lines. Phones not answered. As someone quite rightly said "what happens when I have to claim or get assistance?".

As sales campaigns go this is right up there with Gerald Ratner.

I suppose I'll give them a chance too but on my terms.

I will ring the number once, when I want to ring it, and if it isn't answered I'll be going elsewhere. I'm not interested in booking a call back or any similar nonsense.

We hope to be in need of fulltimer insurance in a few months time. Anyone know if 2Gether offer such a thing?

I've just read through this 'old' thread.
I am saddened by the negativity and challenges thrown out there.
At the end of the day, instead of having a pop, why not use this thread as a means to 'educate' a broker as to motorhomers specific needs, let them know what we want from a MH policy ( such as extended travel abroad, breakdown, contents etc) and then judge them by seeing if they react to consumers demands. This is the perfect forum for us to 'teach' them, and see if they can rise to the challenge???
If they do, then Fun can proudly claim to have a broker on board who understands what you want, and can deliver at a fair price. If not, then they will fall into the category of just another one to call on your ring around at renewal time.
;)
Just saying

Good opportunity for @Joe Woods to stand out from the crowd (y)

Hi, Will give you a bite of the cherry when I renew. For me, it's all about level of cover and knowing if I'm ever in trouble my Insurance provider will do their utmost to help me and not look for an opportunity to reject my claim and cry for help. Never made a claim yet and hope I never will but need that reassurance if things goes wrong ! There's some great competition out there and you will need to be top draw to get my custom. Best of luck and I wish you and your company great success. Time will tell !
