Hi,

It's a new-to-us MH and the 2a usb outlet by the island-bed headboard isn't working, and there is 0v on the spade connectors feeding it.

The manual says there's a 2a fuse for USB in the CBE DS470. I assume it's the one marked with a USB symbol, and it has continuity so I assume is fine.
It also says the small grey fuse box in the garage has 2 usb fuses. The one marked "2A (5A) fuse USB Socket, rear" has continuity, but the fuse for the drivers cabin shelf is missing completely. Not yet sure if that is a different problem I'm still to discover !

So, I have two questions, if that's ok.
1. Where should I check next?
2. What does the manual mean when it labels the fuse "2A (5A)"?

many thanks in advance: any help will be much appreciated.

Have you physically tested the fuses?
Do you have power coming into one side of the fuse slot?

I would assume that the “2A (5A)” indicates that there is two options depending on what has been fitted. So 2A is standard, but if you had a double socket installed then it would have been an upgraded system and 5A fuse instead. For example.

For both I put the multimeter on its continuity setting, applied the probes to each side of the fuse and the reading went from 1 (no continuity?) to zero (has continuity and is therefore working?)

Should I check the voltage at the fuse as well?

So that shows fuses have not blown and are ok.
If you use your meter and put one side to an earth/neg, then with other prob onto the contacts in where the fuse goes then one side should be 12v ish showing you that the system to the fuse is getting a supply.

Thanks. Will check that after shopping 👍

Oh dear - looks like I wasn't testing the continuity correctly. Thanks Landy Andy , as you suggested I tested voltage both sides of the fuse, and got 12v on the battery side, and 0v on the usb side.

In my defence, it is one of the really small blade fuses ;)

Swapped out for a new one and all working. just got to source a dual socket now, to go in it's place...

I’d love some usbs in our chic c line bedroom but there’s no where to put them……then there’s the wiring to think about………that’s when I give up🤷‍♂️😁

There’s nowhere to put them

Utter rubbish, you’re just too tight Ade 🤣

No, there’s nowhere, even nigel agrees with me🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️👍
I’ll do an inspection at Malvern then 😉

Another reason not to buy a Carthargo then if not

China cabinets, ruffled leather and no usb’s 😱

Twas from a time before usbs were necessary🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ I might get some and let uncle Lenny HB find somewhere to fit them👍👍😁😁😁

Having solved the power issue can I de-rail my own thread, sort of, please … ?

This is the single sub socket I want to replace with a double, but I’d like to retain the existing chrome surround.

I can’t work out how to remove the central bit from the backing plate, so I suspect I need a complete unit. Is that correct

Are the chrome surrounds generic so they fit all backing plates?

The 2A fuse for the bedroom USB socket is in a small black box below the distribution unit.

Typed too soon. Just needed to pull harder so now I have this

So the question is, where can I get a dual round outlet?

The old USB 2.1amp sockets are now needing to be replaced with the faster charging C type sockets with new phones and tablets, we now this because a lot of mobile phones come without chargers these days, some of them can take up to 65 watts for fast charging, however I think the norm is 25 to 45 watt.
I doubt these are available yet from CBE suppliers as I haven't seen them , its hard enough to find the shinny chrome bezel covers at any reasonable price.

As above. Fit ones with the USB C type too. Otherwise you will be doing it again.

Also consider most of them have a light on all the time they are powered. Not ideal in some places.

One of our bedroom USB sockets got damage during, 'activities' 🙈
Don't ask 🤣

We need to find a suitable replacement now though if anyone has any suggestions 😊

Just beware, in my c line the little grey fuse box is fitted upside down, so is misleading when looking at the manual.
