Hi 19 twins.... have anyone added room bars yet to their vans? I wish to be able to use a roof box for Europe trips when I take family and this means storage increase for the items you need, but get in the way. I have a large Thule roof box that would fit between roof sky openings

Can I just use standard ducato ones? I’ve looked down on the roof from the 1 st floor, not climbed up as yet!

I would purchase a collapsible ladder to stow away to assist my 5.2 height

If yours is the same as mine it has two roof rails that look like this in cross section.

IMG_20190616_111109.jpg

I attached my solar panel to the top using some machined parts I purchased on ebay and then had to file down a bit. If I was doing it again I'd search a little harder to see if I could find better-fitting tee nuts as the filing was a right pain in the fingers.

Not sure what's out there for rails and boxes but hopefully this helps a little.

Hi all and Damian I wish I was as handy as you are.... however like most females I’m likely to get something ready made and fitted by a family member with me helping of course !

Halfords being my starting point as they have a vehicle checker... I’ll likely then search web for price compare etc

I’ll keep you guys posted as would love extra space for Europe trips

Since 2011 (kind of..)
Hi Alfie159 (and All),

New to the forum so "Hello!". Came across this thread earlier to day and I've just done this very thing this week (put roof bars and a box on our Twin).

I went for the "Thule ProBar Flex". They come in 'Low' or 'High' options for rack height - after a quick measure I decided the Low would be enough to allow for clearance of vents/windows etc. Glad I did as the box is well clear of any roof furniture. I think the High would have been too high but I suppose it depends on your own requirements.

The rails are exactly as Damian described and showed in the pic. I went for the Thule Force XT Sport as I needed to avoind the bedroom roof light and soloar panel. I've put some pics on for reference (including one showing her off in the sunshine!).

I got both the bars and box from Hill View Awnings in Pool - they were about the best value I could find. I also went for the telescopic ladder but not the Thule one. I found an alternative on Amazon for around £40 which I used to put the bars and box on and it works a treat. Collapses small enough to fit under the bed too.

The storage under the bed is mostly taken up by our yellow lab, so the box is a big help.

Hope this helps and hope to contribute more soon!

Rented a few times...now an owner.
I see Andrew Ditton has posted his review of the Twin on YouTube today (link below if anyones interested). As expected he picked up on the weak toilet flush. Interestingly, in one of the comments posted underneath was this

"....Regarding the poor toilet flush, this is not a fault. The pump is too weak and Adria does not fit the little shrinking tube to the flush outlet from the factory. It's a little orange tube that needs to be placed in the hose just before the outlet. Once the tube is mounted, the water reaches all around the toilet bole. The orange tube is included with the instruction manual from Thetford when the car/caravan is delivered from the factory. Strange that Adria does not check this in the quality control in the factory"

I know I must be missing the "orange tube" as our flush is very weak - I guess the tube narrows the pipe diameter and therefore increases the water pressure. Has anyone else managed to find the elusive orange tube?

And to complete the answering of my own question ... :D :D ...here's a video from Thetford that shows how to dismantle the WC so you can insert the orange tube...once you've removed the brackets there are 3 banana shaped brackets to remove (2 screws each) and then the bowl lifts off

I would have thought thats definitely a warranty fault.

A lot of vehicle companies are using real imitation cow skin these days it seems ... you'd think that would make it easier to control quality and finish

Hi Guys just checking in to say hello from Manchester

First time for us with any type of van or motorhome, after reading lots of reviews, visits to shows and dealers we setteed on the Adria twin so fingers crossed we've chosen wisley.
We ordered a SGX 640 Supreme at the 2020 preview - due November
For some reason we chose white - not sure why now, maybe silver would have been a better choice and added the New Auto gearbox too which is supposed to be excellent.
We picked the SGX because of the verstile rear loading area, easy to access any gear stored under the bed or load large equipement. The misleading part of the SGX though is they promote it to us motorcycle enthusiasts but I'm not sure i'd want to put my BMW GS1200 in the back - mountain bikes, paddel boards, surf boards - yes absolutley but a 260kg Bike hmmm ?
Yes it can do it but i'm sure you'd have to load it in and out every night due to the bike height ?
Regardless though the SGX and SLB are still im my option the most verstile vans out there - just hope its going to live up to my expectations when it arrives.

Some great little ideas in this thread to make life a little easier
Good call on the Roof bars i had a good idea they were Thule Probars, now i can get some ordered up.

Anyone installed an outside shower or gas connection, be ideal for cleaning down dirty bikes and outside cooking. Looks a simple job to install into the kitchen pod as the supply is already in there.

Also noticed and issue with the seat height, I drove a Hymer Yosemite a few months back and thought the seat is way too high even on its lowest setting.
There is a lower seat base available through seating specialists but it looks like it could interfere with the handbrake when seat is rotated, anyone swapped out a base for a lower one?

Will be taking the van out for its first major trip over christmas - any suggestions where to go will be most helpful :)

Anyway will post some pics on collection

We had an external shower installed into our van (same as yours) and put it into one of the rear cubby holes near the rear doors, right hand side. It was easy access to water apparently and it stops nicely into the cubby. We do have to open rear door to use but prefer that than a hole in the bodywork.

Love the van, excellent choice. Just watch out for rear doors in high wind, we smashed our rear window that way.

Great to hear good reviews
Looks like we’ve picked a good van ?

Blimey I thought forums were dead since the event of Facebook
Used to be on a few in the past and they just died off.

Any SGX guys give advice on the bedding sizes for quilt covers, sheets and mattress toppers ?
Can we get away with King Size ?

Also another reason I chose the SGX is the heating, so how is the diesel Webasto performance ?
Noise, heat, water temp ?

With the bedding, we've gone for a double-sized fitted base sheet which fits the raising part of the bed pretty well. Our feet stick out onto the sides when it's warm but that's fine. We're going to get a custom mattress for this middle bit and when we do will also get custom base sheets with the cut out in.

Duvets are king sized, that works fine. Enough to tuck around you but the edges can be folded over easily and don't get in the way of the raising.

The other thing I've just got for the SGX is these drawers from Homebase. Got two sets and they sit back to back at the right hand side of the cargo hold. 3 drawers facing out for things like the dog tether, hose, electrics etc, and 3 facing into the van for shoes etc.

There's room down the side near the gas cupboard for chairs and table.

These work for us because it's important to be able to able the swing door to the hold (the one between the hold and the main van. Our dog sleeps there, so we want to swing it open every night and then close it again in the morning. These drawers are just the right size to allow that door to swing unimpeded, as long as the hold is pretty empty, which ours is for shorter trips.

Oh, mattress topper. We got a double for that so it fitted the middle part, after a first night in the van that wasn't that comfy. Got a big thick one as him indoors left me to it, and it was brilliant - sleep like a log now. In the end will be getting rid to replace the middle with a foam mattress, but probably in the spring if finances are ok.

Just be careful on weight as some mattresses can be very heavy and your raising mechanism will have a limit on what it can take.

Specialising in 'Numpty' questions at the minute so here's another please. We keep our '19 twin on EHU at home. We had a spell of not being able to use it, unfortunately when we came to start it again it wouldn't as battery was flat. We have a 100w solar panel which I know charges had battery and I assumed the engine battery would charge off hook up. I assume the engine battery has been drained by the alarm which is always on. My question is. Is there any "switch' in the van which will allow ehu to charge engine battery, if not is one of the trickle charge battery maintainers sufficient to keep it topped up, ism so what strength or do we need to invest in a fitted battery master. Thanks

Just been reading all this thread & it was fantastic & a great help for me whilst waiting for our 22 model 640 SLB Supreme to come in October, all being well. I’ve bought some things straight away & asked some questions of individuals too. Many thanks to all contributors and Cheshirecat57 for starting the thread. I think Minxy Girl is only a few miles from us too which may be a bonus if ever needed 😜. We can’t wait to get ours having downsized from a 7.5m 4t Bessacarr
regards Roy
