All the gear, and no idea!
Just had a renewal slip for bike, with a slip inside asking me to check out the new tax rates for April 1st 2017 onwards on the website www.gov.uk/newvehicletaxrates

Am I right that mohos registered after April1st 2017 the tax is going up to £465 for 5 years or have I got it wrong??

I know about the new euro6 d tax but this??

Mrs Westy registered her diesel car on 31/03/17 missing the tax rise by a day ??

Should that be 2019 WESTY66 ?
Nope retro, April 1st 2017!!

Thanks for that, I was linking it to the price hike for new registration next year. No help sorry but bumped for you.

How I read and believe it to be...
Co2 emissions have to be on the v5 and 40grand and over to apply.
It's the co2 bit that's changing in september.

If the emissions were on your v5 when you bought the mh and over 40k you would of already been paying the higher tax band I believe

If you have no Co2 info on your v5 your tax will remain the same.
??????
It's the emissions that's the issue.

Cars and some motorhomes registered on or after 1 April 2017

You’ll pay a rate based on a vehicle’s CO2emissions the first time it’s registered. This applies to:

carssome motorhomes

Your motorhome’s included if both the following apply:

it’s in the M1SP category - check with your dealer if you’re not sureits CO2 emissions are included on the ‘type approval certificate’ (this might be called a ‘certificate of conformity’ or ‘individual vehicle approval’)

Yes thanks, I’m ok, mines a 2016, I’m asking for someone else.
It’s the bottom pic (£40,000+) that’s confusing, there is NO mention of emissions in there, but I’m quite happy to be corrected?

It only applies to motorhomes up to 3500 kgs MPW which had a CO2 figure stated on the final stage CoC at first registration. If the owner of a 2017 MH fell into that bracket they would already have been paying emissions rated VED and the supplement based on the purchase price.

If their van is currently taxed as PLG (because the CO2 figure was absent from the CoC) it will continue as PLG.

The only thing that has changed Is that new motorhomes with Euro 6D engines and not exceeding 3500kgs MPW have to have a CO2 value entered on the CoC from 1st September and they will therefore be subject to the emissions related tax band and supplement on registration.

What about those that are over 3500kg?

When I registered our 2018 PHG 4500kg Hymer valued well over £40k last year all went through with no extra costs tax at £165.???

The 'over £40' is the luxury car tax and has been so for a couple of years.
A higher first year and a premium on top of regular tax for the next 4 years then reverts to regular tax.
Other than being taxed at the Co2 band for that vehicle the first year has nothing to do with Co2.... Its AN ADDITIONAL LUXURY VEHICLE TAX.
if it ran on fresh air it would still be payable at first registration.

Well it must only apply to PLG under 3500 kg as I’ve never had to pay any extra.?

Yes, over 3500kg is obviously heavy goods and a different class of vehicle.

I was corrected recently.... PLG doesn't apply any more, up to 3500kg is now classed as CAR. Check your V5C, I did as I didn't agree.

This is after 1st Sept 19 isn't?

No it wouldn't. It only applies to vehicles in the 2017 onwards emissions related tax classes.

Mines a PHG.

The only thing that might be an issue is that NEW vehicles registered after 31/8/19 as HGVs or PHGVs ie 3501 kg +, have to be Euro 6 step D unless they have been derogated, which may be a different derogation for Ducato than (say) a "proper" HGV
Honestly don't know
