Hi.
Sorry tale about our 2017 Ducato Conny3. Dropping a Fetlock...Sort of 'ish.... . Airbag Red light came on a couple of days ago. Followed Youtube info as to wriggling the connectors..No joy. Just back from an Auto leccy's at Mortagua, its the unit,he has to source one. First time it has had to go off site for surgery,so well pleased up to now with our. Fix. It. .. Again ... Tea bag.:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Are you not sending the airbag ecu to be reset? I realise you are not in the UK but is this not available in Portugal?

Hi The Big1.
I already exceeded my skill set by " Wiggling the wires " Expecting the airbags to deploy and cause me to need a clean pair of M n'S's. Just to keep you up to speed on my skills, i was the one caught bashing a blinker control thingy 60/70's on the pavement edge as it might have jammed. I was informed by my fitter mate that if it wasn't broke before,it was $%**&££"() NOW. As its full of very fine wires....... Oooops
Thanks anyway, but on the plus side. Auto leccy's will allways have a job while i am in the market,so win,Win. :ROFLMAO:

PS. Nobody seems to take any notice of my hand signals nowadays...................................................... :beerchug:

Had the same issue couple of months back...there are companies who will repair/clear the faults but most offer zero warranty, crashdata is a well known one..problem with that is if fault reoccurs next week they say pay us another £80 and we will do it again...basically this is a well known issue and these era modules are seriously dodgy...Fiat should own it and rectify free of charge but they won't...anyway I purchased a new updated 2022 unit and programmed/aligned it to my vans system myself using Fiat "multiecuscan" software.. it the most sensible option if you can afford it.

My experience is don’t waste your money on trying to have it reset, I wasted over £100 and it still had faults. Northern Tech not interested in refund, said it was fine. Bought a new one from Coastal Motorhomes, proxi alignment done and all good. This is also on a 2017 Ducato, unfortunately I feel it should have been a recall but hey ho.

Hi, I have seen a few people say it is better to have it replaced, if you don't mind me asking, what was the cost of the replacement including fitting, please?

I think it’s about £250 for the module and I fitted it myself. You do need to do or have a proxi alignment done so that the new module is recognised. I bought the Multiecuscan software for €50 and the cables from eBay for £27. Easy software to use, or find a friendly garage that can do it for you.

We too bought our module from Coastal Motorhomes... depends on your van model but ours was £265 but because I bought from them through Ebay I had some Nectar points to use so got a £30 further discount... fitting is very easy ... four nuts and two plugs... however the unit also needs to be proxy aligned (so your vans main ECU recognises and talks to the new updated module) ...to do this you need specialist software... i use Fiat "multiecuscan" software which you can download online... pay 50eu for a years license, buy some OBD plugs off Ebay and away you go... you can then align the module to your van and also do umpteen other things with your ECU which a specialist garage will charge you money just for plugging it in, ie diagnose faults, clear faults, etc... a bit of computer savvy is required but its not that hard and there are tutorials of people using the software on Fiats on places like youtube. Failing that you would need to seek a suitably equipped garage or Fiat professional to align it for you. Usually at a further cost.

The dreaded airbag fault tied in with mot as well so you can't really put tape over the irritating light , I think it's cost me loads on different vans .

I believe there was an update to the airbag control module in 2020 because of all the problems. Would you know if your new module was this 2020 version or must you use a 2017 version that suits your van? Thanks,

I replaced mine on my 2015 van a few months ago with a new replacement unit from coastal-motorhomes..the new unit was a 2021 model.. different serial numbers etc ..but once proxy aligned using multiecuscan its all good... no problems since.
