Got a 2004 Ducato and front nearside abs sensor showing faulty on scanner.
Has anyone changed one and if so how difficult was it? Thanks.

Could be damage to the wires associated with the abs sensor or corrosion. What ever you find take care working on the elevated vehicle.

could just be rust or dirt on the sensor or ring, I would give it a clean up and check connectors before buying a new one

You will have to get the wheel off and have a look.. it could be anything ..the faulty sensor could just mean the abs ecu is seeing a different signal from that wheel and is flagging up a fault..
It's not unusual for the sensor bolts to be a pain as they are small and quite often well rusted..
As said just clean everything and assuming it isn't hall effect check the castellated tone ring for damage

Decided to take the van in and get this done. Sensor and pick up ring faulty.
New sensor fitted but had to rebook to get ring done in a fortnight.

A regular ABS fault we used to get on the Volvo B10 coaches was the air gap being incorrect due to wheel bearing problems. Adjusting the bearings cured the fault. Maybe something to check before condemning the sensor.

I've not long done the tone rings on a 2004 vauxhall..
At very low speeds you could feel the abs pump operating..
One of the rings had split..
It only happened at low speed when the car was slowing down.. no symptoms at higher speeds...
Eventually I bit the bullet and replaced both front rings on the drive shafts..
All fine now..
I'd be very surprised if both ring and sensor were faulty unless the ring had damaged the sensor..but most probably for what it costs best to replace both....
The sensor been the easier fix and replacing the ring been a pain.. (y)
