I am considering adding a second leisure battery to increase my usable amperage for the occasional night off grid.
At present I have a 1 year old single lead acid 100AH.
Does anybody know the output of my alternator ?
Also my mains charger is an older Sergeant unit which says it is suitable for lead acid batteries so the new battery would be another lead acid.
Thanks in advance.

You have a very futuristic Motorhome 20006

Could be anything from 90 amps up to 160 amps.

Most motorhome manufacturers fit uprated alternators but not all.
Only way to confirm is to find the part number on the alternator.
Someone with the same van may know.

So not less than 90 amps.
So with the engine running, when driving, roughly how many amps will be going to the leisure battery to re-charge it ?
So I can work out roughly how long it will take to replace the amps I have used.

So does anybody have a rough ballpark figure for how many amps my split charge system delivers to my leisure battery/batteries.
eg. if I use 40 amps for a night off grid roughly how many hours driving will be needed to put the 40amps back.
If it charges the leisure battery at 5 amps per hour it would take 8 hours, 10 amps 4 hours, 20 amps 2 hours etc.

As I already have a split charge system and the nights off grid will only be rare I don"t really want to fit a B2B, although I know that a B2B would charge the leisure batteries quicker.
After a night off I grid I would either drive to a site where I would be on EHU so my Sargeant mains charger would top the batteries up or I would be driving home.
I"m just trying to work out if the drive home would be long enough to re-charge the leisure batteries via the split charge or if I would need to plug the MH into my mains electric to re-charge it as getting power to where the MH is parked is a bit off a faff.
