Bought one of theses from Poynting a while back and its sat behind the telly in the bedroom, not the best place for it, so I decided its got to go on the roof but where? The best place is above the bedroom telly where it is now but If I screw it straight to the roof it will be blocked by my top box, I need to make it so I can lift/lower like the tv aerial
Sometime ago I bought a Vision Plus aerial gland and plastic pole so I thought I would use that, first problem is its not made for thick RV roofs so I have to extend it, the next problem is how to fit the antenna to the pole.
I decided to cut the aerial gland thread in half, (the bit that goes through the roof) and put a spacer in, as I had a bit of 2" ali bar I machined that out at both ends to fit the outside dia of the threads intending to glue and screw the two bits into it, and the bored it all the way through to allow the pole to pass through it.
Next I made a plate out of 5mm ali to sit the aerial on, and machined a spigot that fits on the pole, and I can screw to the aerial. Finished it today and fitted it in, shouldn't take more than 2 hours I thought, took 8, but after much swearing its done.
I know the roof is filthy, any volunteers to clean it would be most welcome.
