SINCE 2012
been looking at reasons my 2.8 jdt is lazy starting. Always starts but normally second time. Been trudging though Internet and found a article at PICO TECHNOLOGY.
Thay found that the cam censer that is on top of engin (pic) is not reading correctly
The short version is that if you put a 2.5 MM shim under thr bracket and set censer
0.8 --- 1.55 MM away from pulley and hey, presto starts just like my old tdi used to. First time every time.
There's also an article on the fait foram.
Fait sell two washer for this that actually have a part number.

Hope this helps someone else.

Andy

Race van conversion for years
Ours was the same always started 2nd time, had it checked it came up as discrepancy between cam & crank sensor.
