What's It Worth? 1990 Peugeot J5 Hymer in Spain - Help Please.

Hi all and thanks very much for the responses, it was great to see them all this morning when I checked!

Here are answers to the various questions:-
My relative does not drive so this would be done by me and possibly a close friend.
The Austin does not run but I'm not that concerned as my relative has a trailer located in Spain that it will fit onto and if she wants I will drive there from the UK and tow it back.
The Hymer does run and has been checked by an ex mechanic who flew out with my relative to help with various tasks, not a full check in an actual garage environment and obviously no guarantee that it would survive a trip to the UK without some issues.
Both vehicles have been registered in my relatives name for the last few years and therefore probate is not an issue, apologies that I stated in the OP that it was inherited.
I don't know the model number of the Hymers, and although I do have the V5 the info on it is very sparce, it states Peugeot Motorcaravan, 2470cc, 2 axle rigid body, engine number 766176.
The Hymer does have a towing ball and could tow the trailer with the Austin on it.
The Hymer is LHD left hand drive as I believe it was originally bought in France.
The Hymer is currently on Northern Ireland plates, I'm not sure why?
The vehicle has been driven whilst on SORN but I am not sure how long ago or how frequently.
The vehicle is located very close to Pinoso.

Additional context:-
The Hymer is parked next to my relatives "reasonably" remote Spanish house and she lives in the UK and does not drive.
She has been flying back and forth to Spain to try and resolve all the various things to do with the probate etc.
She has quite a few Spanish friends but only a couple that are in a position to drive her about when she is there and taxis etc would be too costly.
The other option has been from someone in the UK to travel with her but obviously this adds additional cost and is not always possible due to other commitments etc.
She does not intend to keep the Hymer largely due to the fact that she cannot drive, hence selling in Spain would likely be the easiest solution.
I am aware that many of our options are not 100% legal but please do not hesitate to provide any option as ultimately it will be myself and my relative who make the decision.

And a few more questions:-
Can a Spanish mechanic do a TUV test even though the vehicle is UK registered?
Can a UK registered vehicle take a TUV or ITV test?
Would some of the issues be resolved if the vehicle was transferred to myself, i.e. then would I technically have 6 months before it had to be registered in Spain?
Are there any Funsters near Pinoso that would be willing to have a look at the vehicle for me?

Once again thanks for the many helpful responses and thanks in advance for any further help from myself and on behalf of my relative.
Mark.

To the moderator can you please delete my last post as I forgot I had already posted it this morning.
Thanks.

Is the trailer a uk or Spanish trailer as it makes a difference you cannot tow a Spanish trailer with a uk vehicle and vise versa 🤔
We are heading down to Murcia on the 10th May I could give you some sort of assessment.
I'll have to find out about the trailer and your offer of an assessment sounds great.
I'm not sure how to PM you on this forum so would you mind PMing me please?

Sorry sparkypenguin you have run out of free posts and will have to pay a subscription in order to continue to ask questions.

Surely you just put a (matching) British plate on the back and it becomes a British trailer.

For a UK Vehicle, the front has to match the back. (As every HGV driver will tell you, they swap number plates as required)
I have never double checked, but a few years ago, I was told that in the UK, a trailer plate does not have to match the towing vehicle, as long as a vehicle with that plate is also registered at the same address. This saves changing the plate, if you have more than one towing vehicle.

But always check, and don't quote me😁

Front and back need to match.

Don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but do you have any service history with the vehicle? Especially for things like Engine, Tyres, Brakes, Cambelt!

Hi, before I saw your post I was having a look around to see if I could find anything about it, I didn't, but I did come across this.

To travel through most European countries, UK trailers over certain weights have to be registered.

commercial trailers over 750kg gross weight
non-commercial trailers over 3,500kg gross weight

I guess 3,500kg should be plenty for a tow car on a trailer.

Number plates and registration plates are different .registration is like a vin number that ID',s the trailer, caravans have the similar I believe I won't fancy towing 3.5ton with a car. That's like having a fully loaded transit on a tow bar  scary to me

Plenty of tractors and trailers round here without number plates on the back at all.

In the community hospital this morning (still no disabled parking) there were 3 tractors in the staff car park parked up. Been there since before 9.30 and still there now at 14.20

Only one left parked at 3.45 when I left.

In France you can legally buy temporary plates that last 3 months for an imported vehicle. I almost did this myself until an english speaking lady helped me through the registration process. You can also buy very cheap 3rd party insurance with a mileage limit for classic vehicles very cheap. I insure my BMW classic bikes this way for 145 euros for all 3. Despite drowning in burocracy (spelling!*?) France is more tolerant of such things, so you could drive to Calais legally.
