Someone was telling us about a 1940s weekend somewhere. Everyone dresses up.
Camping for Motorhomes in a park nearby to the venue?
I really can’t remember who it was?
Maybe in the north somewhere?
Sorry to be vague, maybe someone knows what this regular event is and where and when it takes place.

Woodhall Spa is July I think & if you are a member of the c&cc there's a temporary holiday site held on the football club.

Isn’t there something called the C???wood Festival? 40’s music and dance. Seen it advertised in magazines but never been. Bit further south from the frozen north.

Tenterden Steam Railway do a forties weekend in the summer I believe, never been but I gather its pretty good.

There is the one at the Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa where the dam busters were based, the billiard room still has all the memorabilia lying around.

Southwick near Portsmouth, they have a big event in the village as it’s where they controlled the D-Day invasion from Southwick House.

Leyburn War Weekend in North Yorkshire. Normally in July. Lots of people dressed up in 1940s military and civilian gear plus lots of Second World War equipment. Also good entertainment in a few of the pubs. Two campsites on the village outskirts plus normally a pop up site as well

If you go into the pub can't remember but we'll known up there and look at the ceiling it's covered with signatures of the pilots and crews as well as more recent crews, my sons name is up there

Chatham Dockyard does a themed weekend in September. They were thinking of having an aire but I've not heard of the outcome. If interested it might be worth asking.

In August there's one in Uppermill, Saddleworth - the Yanks weekend. It is there as it was a location for the 1970s film, Yanks. Lots of people dressed up, military vehicle parades etc.

There one in Telford as well. June? was end of May this year

Ironbridge WWII Weekend

Thank you I will investigate it.

I feel like I've won a prize!

I have been with friends & it's a really good weekend but then Woodhall Spa is a lovely place for a few days at any time. Theres a few sites, I like Jubilee Park myself.

Enjoy!

There's loads of them but I can guarantee that you will struggle to find anyone with a rank lower than sargeant and lots of high rank officers

Anywhere in Yorkshire. Trying to get by on 30 bob a week!🙂🪖

There's one near Leicester every year called the victory day. It's pretty good as it includes a flying display and one year a mock low level bombing run by the Vulcan (wrong era but who cares). The evening do we went to was in uniform ( no axis power ones allowed presumably to avoid a Puch up!) and as I said everyone was generally officers pretty high ranking and definitely all the wrong height and weight for Ww2! One of the outfits I liked best was an evacuee with shorts and a label ( and about 55 years too old!)

I once worked with a guy into WW1 reconstructions. I asked him i t must be difficult to get uniform and boots and stuff . he said no problem all the dealers sell my size stuff off cheap but i always check stuff out then send a friend to get it cheap. He was 6 ft 8 size 17 boot, not too many his size in 1914.

East Lancashire railway at Bury do one quite good as well as has been said there is a lot of places do one.
