I wanted to get one just to run our toothbrush charger which is only rated at 1w, eventually had to buy a 300w one as the smallest I could find. It draws 0.6A when running the charger, which I calculate is an efficiency of about 14% which is pretty pathetic. Unfortunately these chargers are inductive so no way of charging directly from 12v.

Finally bit the bullet and bought a Sterling ProPower SB 200watt inverter..

It has a digital display showing supply Voltage and Power in Watts being used .. it cycles between them.. very useful.
Also has a USB charging socket ..

paid £110 delivered from FoneJunkie.. but I think it was the last one at that price.. can't find it on the site now..

but also available from http://www.sp-shop.co.uk/Power-Inverters/
