I confess to been a bit of a thick regarding this. I need a little help on my problem.

Now about to change the van and going to fit an Oyster 85cm dish. In the old van I am using a Pace 12volt box. In the new van I intend to use a mains Sky box so that I can receive my Eurosport programmes etc. I have been told to plug this in to my inverter, the inverter as two sockets and I use these quite a bit. The inverter is quite a few feet away from the Sky box so how can I connect it to the inverter?

An Extension lead is the most ugly and obvious
Have you any power supply at all ? either 12vor 240v behind or very close to where the sky box would sit

Or, place the SKY box near the power supply and run an HDMI cable from the box to the tv......just saying like...:xgrin:

nowhere near long enough
You could get a small 130 watt inverter to plug into exisiting 12 volt supply and keep it dedicated for the sky box, plenty around for about £20

Make sure it's a decent inverter whichever way you decide to do it.

Sky boxes are on the list of things that don't like crap inverters. I've come across it a few times.

If that's the old Pace minibox it doesn't have an HDMI socket.

We have ours in a drawer under the fridge where there is a mains supply to 'T' into and then run a magic eye out of the drawer to work the remote. Also have small PSW inverter in the drawer to use if not on hook up.
Cheers

Have the inverter wired into all the 13amp sockets via a automatic switch, or, have a dedicated inverter in the Sky box cupboard

Loads of different options:xThumb:

Personal experience, I ran an older Pace box (and 230V TV) from a 2Kw ring inverter in my last R-V, with no issues. But I suspect the electronics in the newer ones, would be safer run from a Full sine wave inverter dedicated to the task. (My opinion)

The system I used for the R-V had a 40amp 3 position rotary switch to change over through a Dead Neutral from Shore to Inverter. The Inverter was under the Dash, that being closest to the Battery bank (4) Under the front cover (Pusher layout) which gave shortest 12V cables, and connected to the Switch via 16Amp Cable.
