Getting better
I have only one 12v socket in the cab area. Is it possible to use a "splitter" adapter in that socket to power eg a 12v TV and 12v fan? If so, any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks

Sorry, I'm clueless with power issues! I have two leisure batteries, 220w solar and a controller?

You are the same as me, I just know that motorhome builders use minimum cable size that they can.

Nearly all the adaptors are cheap & nasty far better to fit additional sockets.

On most cig sockets will be a lable saying the max wattage. Most are 120w.
You can use a splitter and there are loads on Amazon, ebay, Halfords or car spares shops.
Just dont overload the wattage (y)

If you can fit dedicated sockets then that is better.. Looks better, more secure and no extra dangling wires.

The 12v socket in the cab probably has a 10 amp fuse which limits how many gizmos you can run off it at the same time.

I see tonka beat me to it.

We bought one of these, works fine, each socket can be switched off which is handy. The max amp maybe written near the socket our had TV socket is 10A so just be be careful you do not go over.

Thank you. Is there a difference between a “charger” splitter which you put in the cab to charge eg the phone and a GPS whilst you are driving and a “splitter” which just allows you to plug two items into one hab area socket? Like a double adapter wall adapter?

The double USB will be 5 volts out, I think. Good for electronics expecting 5 volt, but not for stuff expecting 12v.

You have to watch some of these. A triple socket I bought had a couple of low wattage items plugged in completely melted its cable. Very thin. Bought a more expensive one with two 12v sockets and two USB and absolutely fine.

I had a cheap splitter which melted. I found a decent one at the Newbury show which doesn't seem to get warm at all. The cheap ones are easy to find in pound shops and halfords etc, but look for a better quality one. I don't really know much about wattage and all that, but I could easily tell the difference in the quality.

Thank you all?

They are fairly easy to install, I have 7 sockets in my van in various places.
