I have tried to get a free one for over 70s from the BBC but the link on the site don’t work. We don’t have a radio in the house only in the vehicles. Seem to be a lot of blank areas that cuts off suddenly then come on 100yards down the road.

Not sure which one is best although some of the 'Pure' radio's have removable rechargeable batteries IIRC.
DAB radio's are power hungry which is a weakness.
When I had a small boat I bought a Sony one which was brilliant apart from 4 x AA's lasting , i kid you not about 3 hrs.
If you have one for the van, you will need power via the hab battery.

The Pure range of DAB radios includes some rechargeable ones. I have feeling that some of them have an optional rechargeable battery pack.

I thought that DAB radios were the dogs gonads, never tried one, just heard people talk about them. but we have one in the motorhome and i was surprised that it cuts out and then restarts again 'frequently' - i thought the signals were supposed to be uninterruptable. they may be ok for fixed locations but for the motorhome i am very dissapointed !

Do any of them run on 240v?

Sorry I will do some surfing should not ask before looking

Yes Argo do a mains version £19:99

I bought a Roberts Stream 107, which is no longer a current model. It can be fitted with standard AA rechargeable batteries and has a 12v input (which will also charge the batteries). It came with a mains adapter. It wasn't cheap but I bought a recon one from Roberts site. Works well and will also stream internet radio when connected to wifi, so BBC stations available abroad (at least using a UK SIM in a 'phone or mifi as the wifi source). The only thing you would then need is a USB to 12v lead or a cigar lead (I use a USB to 12v lead, in case it doesn't like a supply voltage higher than 12v).

Just bought a very small 12v inverter the size of a small fist, to power the Amazon Echo when on site and stream radio through phone

Have a Pure radio in van with rechargeable battery pack. Often have to use fm rather than dab. Cheap mains powered one at home, permanently tuned to Gold

If I had one it would be on either LBC I like a good row, or smooth extra I can seem to get it everywhere.

I have a Pure Classic and I bought a rechargeable battery for it, quite some 8 years old now, absolutely wonderful radio.

A Roberts solar dab is the way to go , mains 240 , and solar charging
