So, we are due to be away this weekend to visit family, one of the nights we won't be able to get on hook up, we are ok, but concerned about our little 6 months chihuahua.

We have diesel heater but never had it on overnight, so was thinking of a small 12v heater to put near her crate?

She may end up in our bed, but trying to avoid that option first ☺️

(Did do a search but couldn't see info I was after, any help always appreciated)

Carbon monoxide alarm should be in your van if you have a diesel heater. In fact two, one each end of the van. If that is tested periodically and it’s good, then I would not worry to run the heater over night.
We had ours 5 days 24/7 one time.

Dogs have a higher internal temperature than humans so do not get so cold .

Tens of thousands of truck drivers sleep all over the world with diesel night heaters on every night...Pretty bullet proof and very very safe.BUSBY.
