If you can get one you’re on to a winner, there are plenty of women who would bite your hand off for one and it would save lugging a generator around.

Don't waste your money...
Send it to me and I will buy beer, that's a lot more value for money.!

The whole point of a hair dryer is heat, 12v just does not produce enough. If you want " blow" just use a fan...

Ann's got a 240v babyliss one with the spinning end brush. It has lower settings and will run off our 1000w inverter. I think the lowest setting is about 350w.

Edit: which is still 29 amps at 12v

As others have said AFAIK a good 12V hairdryer does not exist. In order to get enough energy to get enough hot air to be useful you are going to need at least 500W, which at 12V would equate to 42 amps. The fuse would blow.

As others have suggested get a 240V travel hairdryer and an inverter. My wife has a 1250W travel hairdryer (less than a tenner from Argos) and she uses it with a 2000W inverter. The inverter does not need to be pure sine wave for a hairdryer, so a cheaper modified sine wave one will do, which is what we have.

Yvette has very long hair and uses a 2000 watt jobby to dry her hair at home.
For the motorhome she uses one of these hooked up to the 1000 watt inverter. It uses infra red for heat and is rated at 450 watts flat out. It takes longer to dry her hair with the motorhome one, but times not a problem when we are away.

If you are like us, you already have most parts available for the solution on board as we have blown air heating on our van. It would be relatively simple to fit a hose extension onto one of the vent outlets using bits from https://www.caravanparts.co.uk/truma-m-21.html, close all other vents and away you go. (y)

More unwieldy, but much less heavy than an electric dryer and inverter or genny. Plus it doesn't knock hell out of the battery.

Carver used to do a proper hair dryer attachment for the heating vents but would anyone want to be in the van with the heating on full blast when it's 40° outside in Spain or Greece, no thank you.

We do carry a small travel hair dryer that can be run off the inverter but rarly gets used the boss is quite happy to let her hair dry naturally.

Before we had an inverter we had and still have a Babyliss gas hair sylier they make 2 sizes, Boots & Argos stock them, only around 20 quid.

Puzzled. Why would this be any different than a 2 KW heater (aka: a hair dryer) running in the van, plus heat loss from the inverter? I guess it would be a tad easier to take outside to use on a long mains cable. Also, in 40°, why wouldn't you just use a blower anyway? :worried:

Using that type of device you would have to turn the heating on & the heating is 6kw where with an inverter you could use a travel hair dryer on low only 600w.

40° outside......hair will be dry naturally in 10 minutes with a bit of brushing to let warm air through.

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
Before we were set up to use my proper hairdryer and ghd’s we just used to go on a site and have hook up.
As I only wash it once a week it’s no big deal . Though that would be if you need to do it everyday .
As for drying hair using vents .:Eeek::rofl:
I suppose that’s ok If you have short / thin hair. But if you have thick styled hair , nope, it won’t do.
I’d look like

we have a 12v Hairdryer. However never use it because it's shite sorry not very good... In fact it's not even as good as that but they do do them. Far better with an inverter and real machine, run the engine wire up your B"B and away you go. Been my secret for great looking hair for over 12 years now

Won't be good for drying in though if the humidity is high. You know what it's like when your sweat won't evaporate.

That's spooky as I could have written that word for word!
For us the solution was a big pure sine wave inverter!

Also useful for just about everything else as well

Not suitable for everyone, I admit, but for those with no payload issues it works really well

Mind you we have 3 x 150w solar panels 6 x 135 Ah batteries and a built in 6Kva generator and a very large alternator lol

She takes her hairdryer very seriously

For us the solution is EHU. No way round it!
