just dragged my bike out of the shed it’s done 1 mile in 2 years so I am going to get rid a mate of mine wants to part exchange a Vespa gt 300 and some cash for it but now I have got it out in the day light I might be getting the urge to keep it. I know it’s a marmite bike but I really think they are a great bike .

I was not quite as bad a few years ago, did a few hundred miles on my VFR750. Partly the MH conflict and partly it was a heavy bike for just a quick ride.

So went small and shot up 10,000m a couple of years ago, the excitement was back.

That’s what I was kinda thinking with the scooter trailed behind the motorhome but we will see ;)

If you can trail a scooter you can trail the Duke
I know what you mean but Ducati’s are a fickle breed and need a lot of care and maintance ,just thought a scooter would be pretty low maintance .

Keep it, scooters are a terrible bore after a proper bike.

I was used to being THE KING OF THE ROAD! On my 109bhp ZX6R . Sold it in 2005 and bought the 100cc scooter in 2014, it is humiliating to ride when you're being taken out by a bloody maxi scooter. Just bought a KTM Duke 390 so I'll see how that goes this year.

It will re-calibrate your brain. Mega hooliganism but on a sane level. Just been round the Peak District on a freezing cold but bright sunny day, glorious. I even washed it.

@tacr2man I had a burgman 400 myself for commuting to work so I know what you mean about the little wheels, sold it a few years ago to a fellow motorhomer.

After not using my Fireblade for many years it needed the carb stripping to even run so I sold it a bought a SH125 that fits in the garage of the van, it stands a chance of slightly more use than the Fireblade hopefully.

Still keep going back for the foot pegs though:LOL:

Get rid of the Ducati you will do far more miles on a scoot with street cred and reliability.
Plus you (we) are all getting older.:)

Goodbye BMW R1200RT, hello Honda ANF125 and trailer. Goodbye 700 miles in one year to an average of 3500 per year on Honda. Grin factor from 8/10 to 10/10 and peanuts to run and easy to park. Big bikes are for a certain time in life, step-thru bikes for older limbs when one can't get one's leg over!

Is this not a correct tool for the job scenario, rather than one being just better than the other? I have run several large capacity bikes over the years, now down to only a KTM 1090 Adventure R, but I still like buzzing about on SWMBO’s Vespa GTS 300. Perfect urban tool, weighs little, lots of space to carry shopping, cheap to run etc.

Cindy traded in her Kawasaki 600 for the Vespa because all the bike was doing was sitting in the garage not being used. She uses the Vespa regularly by comparison. We also bought an Easylifter Hydratrail for the van to take the scoot.

For me, this is horses for courses territory.

I swapped 4 years ago and wouldn't go back to a "big" bike now. I just enjoy the memories of 35 years of big biking and continental touring and was glad I was able to do it.

Or have the best of both worlds, keep your bike and have a scooter as well, like I have,
I can happily concur with comments about the Vespa GTS 300, I recently bought one, and find it very practical to use, (apart from the side stand), in fact I am planning a tour in the UK in the spring on mine, horses for courses as they say.
My only problem now is what scooter to carry on my Hydra Trail behind my Motorhome, my GTS 300 or my SH 125!

Never use the side stand on a Vespa GTS 300, it’s not commonly known as the “suicide stand” for nothing! ;)
