We went through the Tunnel in July with a 6m PVC towing a scooter on a trailer. Talking to a guy in a very large A class (Concorde), he had paid not much more than half of our fee and as longer, higher and wider than us.

The “double” charge for a trailer, regardless of the primary vehicle charge means we will consider the ferries next time we are towing.

yes thats right
it seems any size mh is one price and any size trailer the same
when i took the van through with trailer it was double and it looks like its the same with mh and trailer
Ill have to just suck it up and pay best part of £200
I think if I had the frequent traveler deal 10 tickets it would be two tickets which is about £100 all in

I disagree. We've used the ET for years both with a 9.4m RV and trailer and now a PVC with trailer. We always purchase min 10 tickets. So it's the cost of a ticket, £46 + £12 for high vehicle and £46 for the trailer. Can add another £20 for peak times. So a 13m, RV plus trailer, cost £104 which I thought was a fair price :)

I have worked out for us doing tunnel if we buy frequent traveller we can use it for four crossings and still save money that’s with van and trailer obviously the more you use it the better the saving and of course the time slot cost for non frequent travel varies quite a bit if you based it on the dearest crossing you would probably save even more.?

£95 sounds like a good price for a vehicle carrying as many passengers as you wish. It’s then doubled as you have a trailer, which occupies a second space. Can’t see the problem

But if you have a 6m motorhome you pay the same as a 16m motorhome. If you travel on your own have 6 adults it’s all the same cost. That is how they have chosen to do it, a very simple system.

But if like me you have a 7.5m m/h and a 2.5m trailer you pay much more than the equivalent 10m m/h.
I agree we are 7.5 m with a 4.5 car trailer so 12 m overall and admit we would take extra space if pricing was on length, however when you see large RV’s and coaches longer than us it does feel like we are being ripped off.
Though we will always use the tunnel as it is so easy and hassle free.?

A couple of questions re frequent traveller.
1. How many ET crossing do you have to make to qualify for a frequent travel pass.
2. How much do you have to pay to open an account and is there a minimum account balance once you open the account.

Thanks

Buy 10 tickets in advance, valid for 12 months. Total upfront cost £460
When booking for the motorhome, £12 supplement each way, so a total of £58 each way. That's for off peak. If you want to go peak, an extra £20, or an extra £30 on a few busy days of the year... I avoid them.

I’ve just done a check on charges for trailers on same day and times at the cheapest it was £90 and the dearest £110 so the savings with frequent traveller including the trailer are roughly half so even though it’s sticks in the craw it’s worth buying just for savings on trailer???

I get in on the "under 7m"with the ferries & can still be under 7m with a small trailer yet would have to pay an additional 75% if I wished to do it.Still cheaper than the tunnel though
I have. £58 each way with Frequent Traveller. Share the account with a friend. Works for us.
Bargain!
It's finding anyone who actually wishes to enter the Uk more than once in a year that is the problem .
