I live in Whitby and started playing the guitar and gave up three times before we moved up here where I found a strum and sing guitar group just before lockdown with some others and it kept me interested.
Ive now moved on to playing mostly electric guitar and we're in a group called the dodgy jammers my other half plays sax keys and flute. I think for most people playing with others really helps you keep going rather than get bored.

Hi just come across this group and although I do not consider myself a musician I do try to knock out a tune now and then 🤗 on my keyboard. Also I did many years back fancy playing the ukulele. Also my grandson is music mad so I hope you don't mind me just being an observer for now. 🙄

Hi and welcome Lucky One.

Happy for observers to join in or just lurk.

My wife and I played in a ukulele band in the UK for many years, doing skiffle songs and just about anything that involved 4-5 chords. Brilliant fun and pubs loved us. You can't take yourself too seriously playing one.

There is almost certainly a Uke group near you that meets in a pub to play a tune or two. The social aspect is almost as important than playing the thing.

Happy plucking..!

I started and gave up on the guitar three times before I found a group of people to play with. It's just a strum and sing group and that made me stick at it the rest has followed on from there. I then got keen on jazz where you more or less start at the back of the chord charts and work your way forwards! Still got a lot to learn.

When I first joined MHF I attended quite a few rallies where very talented musicians got together and entertained us ... sometimes just alongside their vans or maybe in the pub at night. Very happy memories 😊

I'm reaching the realisation that those musicians might be talented but have put in the hours to get there!
