Have been with them since we started motorhoming back in 2003. Have found them efficient and approachable and were there when we needed them after burning our brakes in Austria when they liaised between ourselves and the local Recovery agent. They were also amenable to a renegotiation of our annual premium one year, when we contacted them with some relevant changes in circumstances. This year, they despatched our requested Green Card to an overseas address by return. Possibly not the cheapest but with service like this, I will not risk any other.

Very helpful and pleasant to deal with on the phone - 5 stars for that bit. Also 5 stars for allowing time to get after-market security fitted after collection and 9 months EU coverage.

But, and its a big BUT, they include breakdown cover whether you want it or not - and on a brand new van, I don't need it as we have the FIAT coverage for first two years.

Their quote is completely uncompetitive - I can't tell 100% whether its the breakdown cover that causing that, but thats what Safeguard agents are suggesting when I highlight how out on price they are

my insurance went up buy £50 this year .i shopped around could get it for £180 cheaper .grove and dean .after advice on fun i googled reviews. next comfort quote 4000 miles max there best price how do we no what we are going to do .looking at my safeguard policy unlimited mileage and 365 days European travel with full AA European cover and legal costs included... insurance renewal paid today its worth the increase .you cannot take it with you ...

Been with Safeguard since we started and insured our first m/home. We live quite near to their office and always go to see them to pay renewals or other matters. Have always, over 20 years now, been received and dealt with in a friendly and professional manner.
We have from time to time checked our premiums against other companies but to date have not found reason to change.

we insured with safeguard for several years. changed van last year and to say they were uncompetitive was an understatement. i pointed out that we had been loyal customers for years and asked them to match other quotes. they just didn't want the business so we moved to NFU at half the safeguard quote

I've been with Safeguard for 8 years. I had an incident in France in 2014 and although I didn't claim on my insurance for the damage I did use Safeguard's assist service which provides interpreters. They also paid for me to return home and later paid my expenses to pick up the van. All without an increase in premium.

Last year I had a coachbuilt screen replaced in France. Safeguard authorised the replacement during the initial phone call. AutoGlass through CarGlass provided an English speaking contact.

Whenever I have a question I call them. I've found them polite, knowledgeable and so far have given me cover at a price I'm more than willing to pay.

Just renewed my insurance this morning for the eighth year with Safeguard. £411.33 including legal protection and £50 voluntary excess. 2004 Autocruise Stargazer. Fitting "modification" of satellite dish and solar panel has made no difference to quote. Made one claim for repairs following return from Italy, used break down service once in UK and had a windscreen replacement. All dealt with quickly and competently without hassle. Would have no hesitation in recommending them.

I thought some funster's might be interested in my experience over the last couple of days in finding a lower insurance quote for the Motorhome. I received my renewal notice from the CC last week quoting £779 which to be fair was £80 lower than last year but thinking I could finding lower l set about trawling the internet. Comfort was a no go as they require a cat 5 tracker so did a fair few others CCC wanted £840 no tracker required shield £800 likewise. I finally got round to safeguard, they came in with £676 unlimited mileage and 365 days European travel with full AA European cover and legal costs included and no requirement of a cat5 tracker, so overall a big saving to safeguard

First year we had our motorhome it was insured with Safeguard. Second year they informed us they no longer insured vehicles in Jersey.
So why on earth do they still keep sending quotes for our business and a million texts? Idiots.

I was having a frustrating time trying to get my existing insurer to cover my new motorhome, without imposing unachievable conditions. The dealer suggested Safeguard and I soon found I was talking to someone who understood what I was looking for. She understood terms such as "Caravan Club storage compound" and "towing with an A frame." They asked for additional security and I was given a choice of fitting either a Cat1 alarm or a tracker. I thought this was a much more reasonable approach than I had been experiencing previously.
I have been with them for less than 2 years and I have not had to make any claims, so I am not in a position to give a comprehensive review. However I did find them easy to deal with and reassuringly knowledgeable about their product and my motorhome.

Whilst travelling through France in 2014 with our then new Auto Sleeper a French driver hit us down the side of our van, no major damage and we were able to continue on our 6 week trip to Benidorm.
On our return Safeguard got our van repaired at the Auto Sleeper factory and I had to pay £450 excess, I tried to get my excess back but Safeguard said that unless the French driver admitted to be at fault I wouldn't get it back and I would be part to blame for the accident.
Anyway a long story cut short,Safeguard employed a solicitor to fight my case and I got all my £450 back and no blame for the accident.
Safeguard we're great throughout.

Safeguard were the cheapest quote for both of my North American motorhomes, one reason for choosing them. I get unlimited mileage and 365 day cover in the UK and Europe. I haven't had to make a claim, but I have had to use them for breakdown cover when I locked myself out of the motorhome. Their service on that occasion (and that of the AA) was superb, as it was a very busy time (over New Year) but they made sure we were responded to very quickly as the dog was locked in the motorhome. The communication between Safeguard, the AA, and myself was excellent throughout.

I've never had an accident claim with Safguard, but I've used their breakdown service twice, once in Spain the other in the UK. Both times it was a flawless operation with regard to the communication and organisation getting me, family and van home. That peace of mind is great.

They always came good with policy prices and allowed you out of the country for long periods. I shopped around every year but always came back to them. I'm not with them anymore because they cannot give me the "Business Use" I require, otherwise I'm sure i'd still be with them.
