I rang To see if they sold gas. I was told yes. I got there. And was told not any more. I asked if they knew anywhere else. I was told very rudely no. When I was on the way out. There was a couple asking where there van was . you said it was ready to collect. When a young man told them it was out on a demo with a another customer. The man then had the manager by the throat. until his wife pulled him of. They could not see what was wrong.

After visiting the show at the NEC and looking at lots of PVC variations, we decided on a Benimar Benivan. Fantastic specification, clean and simple inside, option for auto gearbox. We then discovered that the only outlet was Marquis, and our nearest branch was Preston.

Marquis had / have a very mixed reputation and we were nervous about buying from them, to the point that we considered buying a Rollerteam Toleno instead. Similar, but just quite not what we wanted.
Anyway, we contacted Marquis Preston, spoke to Dave, swapped lots of emails (Marquis were very prompt and professional in all their responses) and arranged a visit and test drive. A different member of the team met us (Tom) and was every bit as professional.

1st impressions were very good. Polite, knowledgeable, professional. Had a good test drive, negotiated a decent deal, both of us happy. We then had a long chat about our expectations and the poor reputation that Marquis have.

They were quick to agree that the company are not held in the highest regard, explained in detail the company organisational changes, and what they hoped would happen as a result. Fine words doth butter no parsnips I hear you say. But it did seem quite genuine.

Anyway, placed an order, signed on the dotted line and agreed a delivery date. Sorted. Or so we thought. We then decided to go on holiday for 5 weeks so called to delay delivery. Chat with the sales director and the response: No problem. See you in January. Have a nice time.

Researching the forums highlighted a couple of issues with the Ducato - Fiat block a heater outlet for example. Rear side window can be opened when you try to open the whizz-bang door. Called Marquis. Not aware of these but… we’ll sort them. No problem. And they did. Including supplying a couple of window locks to prevent the window from ever being opened (as we requested).
PDI completed. They sent me a copy of the checklist. Very, very thorough. A few problems listed, Most very minor, and cosmetic (plastic cap missing off screws). A couple more complicated (Truma errors). Gas tests completed. Damp checks and readings. The good thing is they spotted the problems and fixed them. It wasn’t just a cursory glance over the camper. It was thorough and complete and honest.

We went up to check the camper out before we paid the balance. Met the service guy who’d completed the PDI. Professional, honest, thorough. Knew his stuff and took pride in what he did. Confidence inspiring.
Hand-over was thorough, detailed and comprehensive. Les. Excellent. Knew his stuff and made sure we understood everything. Complicated bits explained simply. ‘Van was beautifully presented and is an absolute pleasure to drive. Found a problem with the heating system. Marquis invited us to lunch while we waited for it to get sorted. And gave us 1st year's hab. check for free due to the inconvenience!

So far so good. We have no complaints. Quite the contrary. We are very, very impressed. I know it’s early days, and it’s good to be aware of potential problems but so far Marquis have exceeded my expectations.
Hopefully Marquis will maintain this level of service and professionalism!

Had the thing a week and identified a couple of problems. Heater problem resurfaced and a couple of trim items. Contacted Marquis. They arranged to have the 'van collected and returned to us a day later.

    All sorted.

Can't really fault this level of service.

The experience we received during the collection process was the worst I have ever experienced from such a large organisation.
The General manager lied to us and ensured that our first and new Motorhome would have all the issues sorted prior to collection.
This was not the case and indeed he had not passed on the issues that were mentioned to him to the relevant department.
Finishing inside the 285 was poor, the remarkable thing was that the PDI Guys saw nothing wrong. The extra battery I asked an paid for was missing and not installed.
The habitation door had a dent in it.
Communication with the Guildford branch is next to useless.
Luke seems to be trying his best to sort the issues out.

Its been a year since I bought my motorhome from Marquis in Hampshire and it went in for its Habitation check and service.

First they warned me they were a staff member short so it might be a bit longer, that's no problem. When the van was eventually ready they had fixed a number of minor faults which I hadn't mentioned and even gave me a free hub cap to match the one which fell off. The staff at the Hampshire branch certainly go the extra mile to be helpful and that is a rare commodity these days. I have no affiliation with anyone at the branch but this is one I feel I can trust.

Remember that a company is only as good as its staff. Many people I know rave about Virgin Atlantic, I have never had anything but dreadful service from them, always in Upper Class so you would never get me on one of their planes ever again. Not all Marquis branches are the same, but this one is a good one.

Over 3 weeks to complete a habitation

Took Guildford branch over 3 weeks to complete a habitation service on a 2 year old Swift
Kept phoning them but never got called back, left messages umpteen times, shame as I bought it from the year before them when they were Michael Jordans.

When I eventually got it back there was still a slight leak in a cupboard, how did that pass the damp test?

Worst ever dealings with a company, they are good to start with, then once a deal done that all changes.
Service department aren't worthy of doing a habitational check on a dog kennel, let alone doing any work on it.
And it is strange that they seem to know the clauses in the contract that seemingly allow them to rob you off by heart.
I thought a certain big company in Burnham were bad, nope, these are worse.
Just wish I had found the reviews first.

    Marquis Leisure (Durham)

    October 2017
I paid a deposit October 2017 To Marquis Durham for my Mobilvetta K-Yacht 80 with upgraded 4400kg chassis. Since then I have been regularly reassured when I CONTACTED the dealer that all was well. It was due off production 22nd April.
    Guess what?…..
I was informed on Friday 4th May that the van had been built on the lighter chassis, i.e. not as I ordered. ‘Did I still want it?’
I pointed out that I could have had such a van last October but the payload was seriously deficient. I was then asked what they could do to keep my business!!!!!>>??? A corporate suicide note at director level was a good place to start.

It has screwed up so many important events, not least accommodation during a three week gap in a house move. The seriousness of the situation did not seem to register with them.

Communication from Marquis throughout has been abysmal. I always had to chase them for an update on delivery. At the end, to get my deposit back, they wanted me to state in an e-mail that I had cancelled the order, not that they had screwed up the order. (They in turn blamed Mobilvetta) I refused.

    The timeline sequence is below.

OCT deposit paid at NEC 2017 WITH UPGRADED 4400kg chassis

Test drive, informed that my model would arrive with enhanced spec.

9 Oct 2017 confirmed upgrade to chassis had been applied.

JAN - Everything still on track

MAR “It looks like the van will be off production approximately 24th April”

24 April I requested an update - all on track.

MAY informed van had been built on lighter chassis - not as we ordered. According to dealership, Mobilvetta to blame.

New Mobilvetta - First class service from Marquis Plymouth

Can I qualify this by saying that I'm not usually one to leave reviews but I have to admit to reading them. This strikes me as being a bit selfish at times so I though that I would contribute. When I do read reviews I would like to think that I am smart enough to see past the extremes and come to a balanced opinion before making up my own mind. So here goes.

Having had a late, low mileage Rapido 803, our fourth motorhome in 20 years we decided we needed a rear lounge and being at a particular point in our lives we decided on new and shortlisted a Mobilvetta MH80 Tekno Yacht.

From our first visit to the Marquis stand at the NEC show in October where we placed our order right through to the handover yesterday the entire service though the Marquis network has to date been nothing short of excellent. We were offered a very fair PX price for our old van which we improved on selling privately giving us a double bonus. The vehicle deal itself was un-pressured and attractive and the transfer of the sale through to our (local) branch was seamless and connected.

From order to delivery we made several running changes which I consider our branch Plymouth carried out in a manner above and beyond the remit of the original deal. The staff that I dealt with at Plymouth - Ryan, Luke, Laura and Richard were always well-informed about my purchase, professional in their dealings with me and still very personable and accommodating. It's refreshing to deal with a company that gives it's employee's room to breathe on an individual basis.

My wife and I bought the van - which is just the absolute business - with the intention that it would be our last - all I can say is if we do buy another in the future Marquis will be my first stop.

    Deception!!!

    April 2008
I bought new from Marquise Leisure, ordered at the NEC on the Swft stand.

Paid my deposit and told a build week of six weeks later.

Went to collect 6 weeks later, and was presented an ex-demo last years model.

I did quiery the graphics and 350 miles on the clock, but was told "delivery Mileage" and "Graphics are always changing".

A week later I was still suspicious and phoned Swifts directly, gave them the VIN number and they confirmed it was NOT a Swift van and was in fact bankrupt stock from a non-existent company.

Needless to say I wrote to Marquis and demanded my money back £50,000 plus!

They admitted the deception and and gave me a 4 figure cheque to accept the vehicle.

I asked for a insurance backed warranty and they gave me that as well.

I WILL NEVER TRUST THIS COMPANY

Ok, always need to bear in mind that when you are the buyer the staff of any organisation will more often than not be exceptionally helpful. It is only when things go pair shaped after you have bought the item that a company be truly judged.

This is a purchase review and does not reflect after sales service.

We went to Marquis in Gomshall Surrey. They had a wide selection of MH's and Caravans there and any query was quickly answered. All MH's except those with a SOLD sticker on were open for viewing.
We spoke to a sales person about viewing a MH with a SOLD notice on it. We were told that we could not go inside but could peer in from the doorway, actually this is all we wanted to do.
It was nice to see that once a van is SOLD then it is locked up and nobody is allowed in. Comforting thought for those that buy.

From a sales and range variety perspective I would give Marquis of Gomshall 5 stars.

I have had to give Handover 5.0 though we have not received the MH yet
