Have been insured with Comfort for several years. In that time the price has not changed much and is very competitive. The premium option with breakdown cover as well is good value with 365 day cover. Very helpful and pleasant people to deal with, plus it is underwritten by Aviva (try to insure a motorhome with Aviva and they direct you to comfort). They have not thus far done the bargain price and then escalate in the following years. When changed the van for one of twice the value the only difference was about £20. Will still look around at renewal but inclined to stay.

I have had ny Hymer insured by Comfort for around 6 years. As a retired commercial insurance broker myself I have been very happy with the premium levels and the contact with their staff.

My son, who now runs our insurance brokerage also, insures his motorhome with them, says it all really.

Good price, very helpful on the phone, renewal price good, no increase. Extra premium to insure for longer periods out of the uk. House insured with them too providing annual travel insurance for £80. I did try to get a quote from Safeguard but could not cover our extended trips out of the uk.

I've used Comfort for the last couple of years. This year when the renewal premium arrived it was so low, including European breakdown cover I didn't think it was worth wasting the time on trying to get alternative prices.

On the few occasions I've spoken to anyone from Comfort themselves I've found them to be friendly, polite and helpful.

That's the good bit. Now for the not so good.

What happens when you need to claim? This may be different if there's a third party involved who they can get charge some fees to. I've no experience of that so I can't comment.

In my case the claim involved stolen keys after a burglary at home so as far as Comfort were concerned it was a Fault Claim. No problem with that, I was expecting it. What I wasn't expecting however was for Comfort to wash their hands of me completely and refuse to even speak to me regarding the claim. Their insistence was that if there was no third party involved they refuse to get involved and I had to deal directly with the underwriter, in this case Aviva which turned into a comedy of incompetence that would have been funny if I wasn't trying to get things sorted quickly due to a planned trip.

Aviva, whilst happy to sell specialist policies, don't have specialist people to deal with them. ALL calls go straight to their main call centre which appeared to be to be staffed by semi coherent teenagers/trained monkeys who didn't have the first clue about 99% of the policies they were taking calls about.

During the first call it took me about 20 minutes to get some faint glimmer of understanding from the monkey on the other end as to what a motorhome is. Then we moved on to why it had 2 key sets, he wasn't really getting it after about half an hour.

Things only went downhill from there. In the end I abandoned the claim and just sorted it out myself for the sake of my own sanity.

I did swear that I would never use any insurer underwritten by Aviva again but in the end when the renewal came through I didn't have time to hunt around and it was cheap so I stuck with them and took the punt that I'll never need to actually make a claim again.

Have been with them for around 3 years. Never had to make a claim, so can't comment on this side of their service. However, the call handler was really unhelpful when I asked for a quote on our soon to be delivered new vehicle.

She was abrupt and very dismissive over small matters e.g., when advised that the vehicle didn't have a tracker she said 'well we can't insure then'. I told her that it's something that can be easily fitted and she seemed to take offence at being told.. I would have thought that quote handlers should be well aware of this and respond to a customer along the, lines of... we would require a tracker to be installed before covering the vehicle. She said she would need to speak to their underwriters and would call back later in the day. Neither she, nor the underwriters, have called back.

We are insuring our new vehicle with NFU

Have insured our motorhomes with Comfort for more than 7 years. Product meets our needs and price offers good value. Cover includes continental touring and breakdown.

Was without a van for six months and contacted the company to cancel policy, but said we'd be back when we got the new one. They said there would be an admin charge of £25 deducted from the refund, which we expected. But added "we'll keep a note on file and if you come back to us when your new MH arrives we'll deduct the £25 from your new premium" - which is exactly what happened. So very happy with that.

At the latest renewal was asked if any alterations had been made to the vehicle. I said a reversing camera had been added. Oh, we can reduce the premium by - I think it was about £14, which more than wiped out the annual increase in premium.

Fortunately, we haven't needed to make a claim for accident or breakdown, so not tested when it really counts, but have a fair degree of confidence they would provide good service and acceptable recompense.

We used Comfort for 2 years, found their advisers to be helpful, the prices low and they seemed to be able accomodate most things.

We had cause to use them for a breakdown however and at that time found them to be disorganised and not helpful. The main issue was that the policy had not been setup properly involving Comfort, Aviva and the RAC. The RAC had no record of our entitlement, this was not fully discovered till after 17:30 on Friday night, led to a very stressful night.

Comfort blamed RAC and Aviva, RAC blamed Comfort then Aviva, Aviva we have no idea what they thought, although to be fair it was an Aviva advisor who sorted it all out at 1:00am. Comfort were very apologetic but in the end did nothing other than apparently review procedures.

Insurance is for when things go wrong, things went wrong and we had a horrible time because the policy we took out with Comfort had not been setup properly.

We no longer use them, we would use again but only as a last resort.

Charged me an admin fee of £25 to change address from house no.2 to 2A.
Same road, same postal code, same everything.
Took an age in call queuing and two minutes to change it.
Not bad money for the work.
Think it's time to change from being a loyal customer of theirs at renewal time.

First insurance and within first year made a stupid mistake resulting in a 3k claim and renewal only went up £27.
I work in Insurance and can tell you my claim was not only painless but very efficient and the service was top notch.
I just wish my commercial clients got the same service as comfort and Aviva provide.
The Aviva claims service for Comfort is far superior than they give to very large commercial clients who are paying tens if not hundreds of thousands of pounds. Yet I only paid £350 and felt like I was treat like royalty. Something I generally only see from the top end high net worth household insurers. Not only were they extremely competitive, they are helpful. Doubt anyone else will get my business for a few years.

Just taken out insurance with Comfort pretty straightforward, would have liked maximum @ 5000m
but it was either 4000 or 6000m £30 being the cost difference. Asked about a discount for Motorhomefun
but was told they don't do one. Still £48 cheaper than my renewal quote and European cover included.

We have found Comfort very good on price, just renewed this year and with European breakdown the price is £288 which we think is excellent. I've never had to make a claim so I can't tell what their after sales is like.

I've been using Comfort for several years now and they have always been very competitive, to the point where for my latest van, I didn't even shop around for a cheaper price.

For a smidgen over £300, they have provided me full cover on close to £60k value of van and accessories, with European breakdown included in that cost.

I had a windscreen replacement on my previous van, which I was expecting to hike the price up this time round, but the rise was negligible. The actual claim itself was put straight through to Autoglass, so I can't really comment on my experience of dealing with Comfort for a claim.

When our previous insurer made longer annual mileage very expensive we were recommended to give Comfort a try. Met with their people at a Peterborough Show who were friendly and helpful, and provided an excellent quote - which included a Fun discount.

Three years later we changed storage and initially the premium shot up, it turned out this was due to a postcode risk. We took some time explaining that we were in fact using a CaSSoA Gold storage site with an impeccable security history and they took the problem to their underwriters. Result was no change in the premium and they have taken note on every renewal since.

Always friendly and helpful on the phone, even to an "off to Morocco again?" when asked for a Green Card.

Thankfully we have never had to make an accident claim but have used the breakdown service once and windscreen damage once, both times a very professional service and all sorted without fuss.

Have been with comfort since owning motor homes. Great price, good cover, but most importantly, great in the event of a claim. They are quick to assess and fulfil the claim and premiums don't hike up as a result (y)

Having got quotes over the years of owning a MH from several companies we have always found Comfort the easiest to deal with, and more important they have always had the best quotes and been flexible. Would always be my first port of call for MH insurance.
