Since 1996, had Elddis/Swift/Rapido/Rimor/Chausson MHs. Autocruise/Globecar PVCs/Compactline i-138
As others have said a bit of filler and a decal, or a fan as Jez suggested (if you can do this it would actually be a good idea as it's right in the shower compartment so would be a good way to get rid of the steam).

We bought a new Carthago in October and when it was back at the dealers to sort some bits out they actually damaged it by putting a scratch along the garage door (accident with a drill bit as the fitter walked by after he'd finished) so you can imagine we were far from happy! After the initial anger we agreed to have some compensation from them and will put a suitable decal over it.

You can bet that as soon as you've had it repaired you'll get another little ding/dint/mark, it's par for the course with MHs I'm afraid, so unless you're gonna sort it back to 'new' status every time it gets marked I really wouldn't waste my money - especially at £1500!!!

Also, if you decide not to have the 'full fix' done and haven't told your insurers yet then DON'T as regardless of if you claim they'll up your premium next year!

Are the sides painted, or is it a vinyl wrap? If the latter, I can well understand the price. It's a new 'van, don't bodge it, get it properly sorted. If not you'll constantly be looking at it.

Enough
Repair the small area of damage and then get a local sign company to put an 8 inch strip of vinyl across the whole top side on both sides (choose colour to match existing stripes or features)

They should be able to design it to match the existing decal designs so it wouldn’t be noticeable.

It’s a shame your are in Bedford...there is a great repairer near Banbury, called Nick Bolton. He did a fantastic job on my Kontiki last year and shocked me at how little he charged me. Could not see the repair at all.

Might be worth shopping around for an alternative quote.

Good luck

I once borrowed my father in laws car to take the wife and caravan away . It was our van but I was still mortified when I opened the car door into the aluminium side panel and put a big dint in it. No damage to car fortunately but we didn’t tell him until years after both the car and caravan had gone.

I see the OP is in Bedford, try this guy, he is totally brilliant, you won't even know where the damage was. I have used him on my Motorhome.

The place is Brackmills Body Shop, call 01604 700919 and ask for Paul. Or email brackmillsbody@aol.com.

All he does is Motorhome repairs, an honest to goodness bloke.

Flook.

We bought our Westfalia Jules Verne complete with slight graze on one side-they wanted €1700 to fix it. Unfortunately I parked in SuperU and scratched on a post protecter, plus marked the back bumper when carrying a vertical log-splitter home! €957 to do the lot is the cost from a local Citroën dealer. Think I'll have them do it when I get my pension next week. Then Jules will be perfect, although not sure that's a good idea here in France since scratches on cars & vans are commonplace! Still the sun's still shining.?

I'm a Newbie
We are hoping ours is not a disaster!
It's currently in winter storage at our Dealers.
The Dealer is now on an island as the river has burst it's banks,
Water is not expected to peak for a few more hours yet.

I'm watching the flood gauge, but zero I can do about it, as no way off the 'island'
hope all ends well... can only get better!

Begun travelling the road in our first van in 2013
I scraped our awning cassette at the end of our very first European excursion. 2100 faultless miles only to catch the cassette on a "sticky out security light" as I was manoeuvering it back into place on its hard standing. I felt physically sick as I pulled forward again to get free of it. That was over 6 years ago and I still grimace when I look up at the scar it left. Good job I didn't replace the covers on the cassette as I first thought of doing, as last year I had a tricky pass-by with a French trenching machine at the side of the road and the whole van tilted to the offside as my wheels went onto the soft verge .... just as I passed the sodding concrete telegraph pole which happily grazed the next bit of my cassette cover

As others say, dinks, dings, scrapes and scratches are all just part of owning a MoHo.

I did that with our awning cover as I reversed Hettie the Hymer on the lay-by opposite where we live, just after we had flogged her. Not happy since I wanted her to be 'as seen' by the new owner. Got it done by a local carosserie so all was good.

With our new motor that I love I will get that done also since Jules gives us so much pleasure with appearance & other things. Healthier for me to get shut or avoid stuff I dislike, as is the case with certain vomit-worthy politicians!

There are plenty of us in that club.

I turned around with a long jack handle in my hand and wacked the side of our new to us MH within a week or so of getting it.
After the scream that could be heard for ten miles and the feeling of nausea died away and getting an estimate to repair, I thought I would go with a cheaper option and make some fun of it, so put a sticker over the dent.

Water level has been dropping since 1am

The storage site has a berm and flood gate which were not breached/topped.
So at the moment, all is OK.

But they say it will be two weeks before the rivers are back to seasonal levels.
A single storm in the meantime will send the water levels right back to where they are now, as the water table is so high and the ground is sodden.

Whereabouts is this flood-stricken storage site Brains?

I really feel for you. I've learnt to be very wary about reversing without SWMBO directing from behind, even with a reversing camera.

My very first trip back from the dealer with my purchase and I reversed into a low level obstacle cracking my plastic rear bumper on the corner. I decided to wait for another bumper incident thereby only making one claim. A year later and this crack is still there. I suppose I'm tempting fate in my favour if you follow my crazy logic.

The reversing camera was configured incorrectly by the dealer giving a mirror image. I only noticed when I saw a tree behind me on the pavement where no pavement or tree existed

I sympathise, been there and done it reversing into our drive and caught the edge of the pillar on the van at eye level.

Went the filling - in route , with custom made vinyl decals on both sides of the van. Once the damage is out of sight, you will quickly forget about your little accident; which it was an accident.

with our first van which we kept on father in laws drive , he pulled it out to put his gear in it ready for a weekend away. Put the security post back in and went about his business. A bit later he phoned me to say he had reversed it back to avoid blocking neighbours drive ... and hit the security post !
He refused to drive it after that and has lost his C1 now so can’t drive our current van anyway.
By the way , it was the little hinged boot lid on an Autotrail which is glassfibre and I found a local specialist to repair it and another to paint it , you couldn’t tell it had been damaged .

Been there, done that. ?
I feel for you as I know how strong the desire is to step back in time and do the maneuver properly.........after the tirade of blue language and self recrimination you just have to get on and repair it. ?
