Hey folks, were thinking about fitting a dashcam to the Benivan. Fiat Ducato base, 2019.

Does anyone know what is inside this, I’m after a 12VDC supply, and how the cover is removed?

There are courtesy lights just above it so I suspect there's 12V in there.
I'd like to hide all the wiring / hard-wired converter in the bit I've arrowed if possible.

TIA

You might be able to purchase the Fiat workshop manual on CD for not much money on ebay, that would probably show you what you need.

Is that not just a blank panel to cover the blank mirror mount or does it have a function.

If it's just a blank then the power will need to come from the lights:

1. Remove the light cluster by depressing a screwdriver into the two entry lips - the left one is seen below (Note: Insert and push down with the screwdriver but try not to lever against the cream plastic lining or you'll damage it):

2. Dislodge the cluster from the top:

3. Pull down and out:

4. The power supply is seen below:

Hope this helps,

Andrew

Fantastic. Thanks. I’ll take a look. Still unsure about the blank cover though!

Wipers - yes.
I'll have a look for some gubbins tonight - if I can get the cover off.... hopefully there'll be a little bit of space in there for a hard-wring kit...

Thanks!

I'd caution against it, because it's *probably* a sealed module that's supplied with the windscreen.

It's not *too* hard to run a wire from the van fusebox up inside the B pillar trim (you don't need to remove the blinds) and maybe fish it across to the courtesy light from there.

2013 van (Hymer), but I ran a cable from the right hand fuse box up the pillar and across the very top of the screen in the smallest trunking I could find, which had a self-adhesive backing. My wife made me install empty trunking on the other half of the windscreen so that it was symmetrical, and hence looked part of the design :)

We fitted an add-a-fuse to the main fuse box and simply ran the cable around the door seal and window pushing it behind the trim with a plastic knife.Simples
