Hi all
Had a lovely weekend away at the Lincoln Show with the exception that my water pump has given up.
I've ordered a new one but it will need a connect to link it in - I am not sure of what they are called to buy one and now Maplin is no more nowhere local for me to have a look.
Does any one know what these are called or where I can get on - failing that I will need just hard wire it...

or am I talking c++p?
Cheers, Dave(y)

I could, I just thought if I could get the connector it would be one join in the cable instead of two...
I will probably end up doing what you said...

It might be in the Molex range of connectors, but they do an awful lot of them !

You could possibly remove the spade connectors remove the white shroud re-use and fix new spade connectors. Be sure to note the configuration.

It looks like a Molex 'FIT' type connector. As @Sandancers says, they do many similar types.

The key bit of information is the 'pitch' of the pins, ie the distance centre-to-centre between two pins/sockets. Two likely candidates are:
MEGA-FIT 5.7mm
MINI-FIT 4.2mm
but there are others (MICRO-FIT, MINI-FIT ULTRA and probably even more)

These connectors are available from specialist component suppliers like RS Components, Farnell, Mouser or Digikey. You usually have to order the pins, receptacles, plugs and sockets separately.

If you give me the pitch dimension I can give you some links to the products. Service is usually very quick. For example, RS stuff typically arrives the next day.

That's a great idea. If you look closely at one of the pins, you can see a couple of 'barbs' that stick out. They catch against the inside of the hole in the plug, to stop the pin pushing out when you insert the plug. You could buy an expensive special tool to depress the barbs, which allows the pin to be withdrawn from the plug. Alternatively, a fine screwdriver, pin etc could be used. It doesn't much matter if you press the barb in too far, because you'll be using a new pin anyway.
