Hi bought this genny a few years ago from a crash-damaged RV intending to fit it to my self build....never happened, now have an American RV which has genny, so no longer needed..All the bits are there, just needs the intake section and ducting re-fitting. 12v windings in genny turns motor over for starting, has good spark.

Free to collector. located in Darkest Cornwall

Wow, this would certainly add impetus to onanism but is this really the best place to advertise your generator?

Somewhere along the line Onan's withdrawal as per the book of myths and fantasy has metamorphosed into something completely different. Anyone know why/when?

Seems an odd choice as the brand name for a generator - at least it does to me.

They were looking to source new engines years ago from Coventry Climax but Mary Whitehouse put a stop to it. :D2

Onan was an interesting character from the Old Testament

Well his habits were!
He was told to marry his widowed sister-in-law, but if he did, then all inheritance would go to her offspring, not Onan's....so on the 'Vinegar' Strokes, he Withdrew, and thus invoked the Wrath of God who Smote him !....So There !

Deliberatly withdrawing on the 'vinegar' strokes and thus spilling your 'seed' somehow got Transmuted !

The law at the time required that if a man died without an heir his nearest male relative had to impregnate his widow to give him one. Onan deliberately broke the law, but what this has to do with generators beats me.
The bloke who died, Onans brother was called Er by the way. This has no connection to the post either. :getmecoat:

Ohhhh! Sailing close to the Coventry canal.

It takes a bit of interpretation to see why the post would be considered as sailing close to the wind with respect to Rule 1, or am I calibrated differently?

I’m often surprised by how intelligent (highly) some posters on this forum are.

There’s nothing wrong with careers advice; I’d not be doing what I’m doing today without it.

I’m not familiar with Mad Magazine so don’t know the merits, or otherwise, of said publication.

Ian :)

Onan is owned by Cummins :) which is where you go for parts now
Yes, and what Excellent Customer Service they gave me when I wanted some spares last year (even for a 30 year old unit)!... Cummings are the UK Agents,..Onan still an 'All-American' Company

As most of us Funsters are third age or beyond this goes some way to explaining the generally high levels of intelligence displayed (on most subjects anyway).

Alfred E Numan...Mascot and Iconic Figure of the 1960's 'Mad' Magazine....Catch Phrase 'Wot-Me-Worry ?'

Interesting!

And further supporting my assertion that you weren’t sailing close to the wind wrt Rule 1.

Sorry,...I thought you were referring to Rule 1 (Collision avoidance at sea)

No problem, I was responding to the assertion that you were bordering on being rude/not nice to an earlier poster.
