A mate of mine tows his Swift Conquerer 580 (1639KG) with a Kuga.
He's thinking of swapping the Kuga for a Peugeot Boxer Utah 2.2 HDI, 110BHP (GM Coachwork camper conversion) to tow the caravan.

Will it cope?

Depends what you mean by cope, 1639kg is within the towing weight range as long as the combination does not go over the max train weight which as far as I can see is 5000kg.If the gross weight of the camper is 3500kg and the train weight is only 5000kg then he may have a problem.

Won't be doing any racing starts but 110 HP pulling 5 tonnes is 22 HP/Tonne, when I first started driving 180 and even 150 HP pulled 32 tons....something like 5/6 HP/Ton.......did go up windy hill at around 10 mph though:)

Will have to use the gears a lot and slow down on hills.

Ahh 180 Gardner , laying across the seats dreaming of scanny 111s, Volvo f88 s and the boss goes out and buys a SED AK with a 220 rolls. Happy days......

If it’s a van conversion at 3.5t then the trainweight should be 6t. I tow the car on a trailer which is 1.5t and it copes ok but have to change down through the gears on the hills.
