I can see one advantage over a conventional mask and snorkel......swallowing.
I never have been able to swallow while wearing an airtight diving mask.
Maybe just me but having both mouth and nose in the same enclosure would make life so easy.

I saw copy's in Spain they where cheap but did not work very well.
The children with the proper ones had loads of fun.

They are €29 here in Belgium from Decathlon

You can't dive under the surface with them though I don't think, unlike with a mask and snorkel.

the ones we have you can dive they have little ball in a cage on end of the tube .
Now that takes me back about 55 years to my first snorkel.
Just a regular snorkel with a second bend at the top with a plastic cage and pingpong ball.
Go under and the ball closed the tube.
You did have to remember to breath out before breathing in to release the ball once back up or you turned blue.

Never been able to use a snorkel and mask comfortably always end up snorting water through my nose. Bought one of these on the off chance last year used it a couple of times once in the sea, works much better. Not having a beard would help alot but it still works ok.

i still use my dads old speargun ,have had to change the rubbers on it . .
its from france . made of wood and very simple .
cant beat snorkeling and having nice fresh fish on a beach bbq.
still some hidden away places round here you can park on the beach.
good weight belt helps for deep diving though.

I'm sure I read in one of the links for those selling them that you can.

Ah, here you go ... you can do it but it's not recommended below 1m as it's uncomfortable.
