We will be looking for a frequent travel partner in the next few weeks, but I need to find out how the "start date" is determined. Is it from the day you register and pay the 10 x £44, or can it be a date in the future?

We are in Spain at the moment and will be hoping to use the tunnel on about 24,25, or 26 March in order to get home before the Easter madness starts on the 29 March!!

We would like to share 5/5 and would like to start it as close as possible to 24 March so that we can use No 1 then, Nos 2 & 3 in May or June for France, No 4 in Oct for Spain and then No 5 in mid March 2019 to get home again. Have I figured this out right or is there a gaping hole in my logic?

Namwaldog that sounds perfect. The 12 months start ticking on payment, so we would need to wait til nearer the time of your return date. I will pm you in the morning.

The clock starts counting down from the date and time you sign up for the FT account and all crossings MUST be completed within 12 months of that date.

However if you use up all of your crossings before the 12 months is up there's nothing to stop you entering into another share with someone else for more crossings.

We have been on this Topic before.

Manchester.

The M6 is a nightmare.

Even going down to Portsmouth, a trip that takes us around 3.5-4 hours took us 8 hours on a Sunday in October 2017.
in-Fact, we got from Bilbao to Javea quciker which is 455 miles.

https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/threads/manchester-portsmouth-8-hours.166189/
We travel down from Manchester every time and we do it happily. We do set off, usually at around 04.00 and drive to somewhere in Kent for the day and then a few hours rest, get to the train, cross, onto Cite Europe and sleep then we're ready to drive refreshered.
On returning, usually a late train (after 20.00) and then we can bumble straight up in around 6 hours and no charge for the Dartford tunnel. I say bumble because it's nice and relaxing and it's the start or finish of our holiday so no rush either way.

Does 4am not find you on the M25 in traffic?

But two hours gets you to the
No because by the time I get there, its clear.

Two hours gets you to Rugby at 6am, I still cannot work it out?.

Manchester to M25 takes 3:15 mins. So that means being on the M25 at around 7:15 am if you are lucky?

I do stop on the way. Get south of Birmingham before 6.00, then saunter down after a break. I'm not in a rush. Lunchtime in Kent.

This year I might set off two or three days earlier and have a few days at Brit Stops going down and see more of the country

Arrange to be early and park up at Farthing Common just up the Canterbury Road from the Services at Folkestone, literally 6 minutes from the entrance to the tunnel. On the top of the Downs escarpment looking down .

I have done some more searching Sandra and I think it was the parking in lay-by thread.
Yes, I've just done the same ... I think some of the posts got rather heated, not just his though.

I wonder if it would be better for individuals to do a 'wanted' ad if they want to share? That way once 'coupled' they could be marked as 'sold'.

Just picked up on this, I would be interested in 6 tickets, (3 returns) if they are available.

In the absence of a dedicated section that's probably the best solution :)

I am interested in the FT scheme and would like to set up a pair or "Coupling" as @Minxy Girl says (ooh err misses).
The problem we have is that we don't have a pattern to our life and very rarely plan more than a week or two ahead. Some years we would only need one pair of tickets some years perhaps two as we live in France it just depends on whether the kids come to us or we to visit them. But I suppose the arrangement could be flexible with the partner who would perhaps usually need five pairs but could relinquish a couple of pairs if needed.
To those that are in a "coupling", do you have to share your credit card details with the partner, reading on the Euro Tunnel T&C's is appeared that you do. Ok if you are already friends perhaps but a bit risky for people meeting just on a forum. The partners also have to be set up from day one I believe but I presume the split can be any way or even none at all if that was needed.
Has anybody with a very flexible life like ours achieved a successful partnership with FT?
And in reality how flexible are EuroTunnel can you just turn up as long as it is not peak time or just book the day before? Can you book the place and pay the supplement on the web or must you phone up?
Lots of questions but old hands I am sure will have answers.
Fifteen years ago when we were moving over we used the tunnel all the time when it was cheap but since then it has always been far too expensive. But £55 with the FT scheme is worthwhile.
Thanks for any answers or discussion.
Steve
