Like many others I have the polished alloys that suffer from alloy rot after a year or so. I have applied for replacements and it looks like Burstner have supplied painted versions and not the black and polished alloys that they are fitting to current models. Has anyone had any wheels replaced recently and what did they get?

We had ours replaced last year and got the same as the originals, and were told that's it, if they go again they won't be replaced. Spoke to a French chap in Normandy who was on his fourth set on his Burstner and they were peeling.
Your replacements looks like a solution, rather than have the same problem again.
If ours start to look a mess again we will have them stripped and painted.

Burstner have changed the design for the 2016 and subsequent models and they have significantly less polished alloy and larger gloss black areas. I had expected these to be offered but seems that they are taking their returned faulty wheels, stripping them and painting them. Obviously cheaper for them.

Hymer used exactly the same wheels as well. We are in the process of getting them all replaced under warranty, even though only one was showing the problem. Our dealer has been very good at sorting it all out for us. So far they look identical to the ones that are being replaced.

Had my Hymer alloys replaced in October. Completely different, look like the ones in the 2018 brochure.

My Burstner is a 2010, the wheels are looking really bad.I tried to contact Burstner about them about two years ago because there was a fault with certain years but was told sorry out of warranty. So I will get them refurbed or change to some differant ones at some point.

I will get them refurbed
I checked with a local alloy wheel refurb company and they only give a three month warranty on 'diamond cut' wheels, whilst they give the full year on non diamond cut.
I think the surfaces and edges are too perfect to allow a good key with the lacquer.
I wonder if the painted ones have been 'ruffed up' a bit and edges rounded to allow a better key.

Just found out that they are refurbished wheels, presumably from all the returned corroding units they have collected. A bit nervous about them being effectively second hand! But apparently refurbed by a German wheel manufacturer (Goldschmidt).

I wish they'd done that with mine, likely to last much longer than the original finish. It's a bit difficult to see from the photo but it looks like the edges have been rounded off to give a better key for the paint.

It's quite common for diamond cut & lacquered alloys to suffer like that, it just takes a tiny stone chip to break the lacquer & pollutants get under the lacquer top coat & they then suffer as shown above.

I had mine replaced about 6 weeks ago and the new ones are different )sorry don't have a picture). These are more like a basic aluminium finish and have a slightly different scalloping in them. I am happy with them although not quite as attractive as the originals, they should last better.

I had a hell of a job with mine. My Burstner 821 which was a 2011 model had 3 sets of alloys and my 2013 i900 model had 3 sets, with a fourth on order when I sold it. I was repeatedly assured by Burstner that the issue was resolved, obviously not.
I think if I had the choice I would opt for plastic wheel trims.
I see the new model Burstners are being fitted with alloys as a cost option and they are standard Fiat Ducato alloy wheels.

Steels on our 2010 Burstner - stronger than alloys - much easier to look after- and you can dress them with posh covers if that works for you.

We had a Suzuki Grand Vitara which had the same problem. They changed the wheels for painted ones.
I told Suzuki to give me 5 wheels so I had a spare as painted wheels are cheaper than the originals. They gave me the extra wheel. May be worth asking Burstner.
