Hi All. If the stationary brake is poor ,What should we check to correct it.
The gearbox works fine put into each gear theres no jolting at all.But when parked on a small slope brake is poor .Any advice please

Possibly worn rear brake shoes / pads or a stretched handbrake cable ?

Is the parking brake foot operated or hand. Is the park brake on the propshaft or rear wheels.

I think that model was built on the Oshkosh chassis. If so the park brake is on the propshaft. Its just a drum set just behind the gearbox. They were never much good to be honest, but a good clean should help. The problem was that people forgot to release the foot controlled park brake and wore out the shoes. The Cummins engine had so much grunt the park brake left on was hardly noticeable.
