An early morning decision that we werent going to remain with this years clear winner of Mr Angry from Pontivy.

We were staying another day away from Vannes area owing to weather, yet again, so needed an aire, preferably free, somewhere in that direction, where we could cycle. and surprisingly a few came up. Rohan looked interesting so we set off and 21 kms later we got to the aire next to a small marina and it was full. We timed it for 0930 hrs hoping if it was full, somebody might move, so we took our time over emptying and filling up with free water nut no joy and no signs of any joy.

P4N is our current app of choice, hopefully to be replaced in due course by the MHF members map of free aires ! and there was a parking zone at the other end of town. But it was clearly signposted as an aire so we followed the road signs and came to this 800 m away with toilets. picnic are over the canal and lovely views on flat land next to recycling bins (very very clean

We decided on a different cycle today, up the NBC and turn right onto the V8 st Breuic to L'Orient voie verte

We cheated a bit by turning right at the ecluse du Bojas and cut across country over a long hill but very little descent, which was confusing as we more or less rejoined the canal. Maybe it was an anomaly but it felt like a long way up.
The V8 started well but soon descended into less than good forest track with damp areas, so we decided to head back across country to the NBC for safe tarmac. We had already been told the cycle was lovely by a GB rider and his back up crew (wife) as he was doing the Velodyssee and Rohan aire was their meeting point so we cheered him along as he came for his lunch after a 40 mile morning

Back on the NBC we made our way to St Gerand

which also had a free aire with free water and dump by a picnic spot on the canal

But the town had little to offer

So our return journey got to the point of NBC meeting V8 and a picnic spot presented itself

What we didnt know was the next 4 kms was where we cheated earlier, and there were 16 locks in 3-4 kms. Some were in a line, a la Devizes but the freewheeling down was enjoyable. And we very nearly missed it.

Back to Rohan where we saw our one and only boat for days/weeks along the NBC actually moving out of the lock opposite our van

And a quick tour over the other side of the canal led us to bike storage outside the TO, but no free electric as we are down to 92 ah this morning and recharging the bikes cost 60-80 ah so we are getting close to being concerned about recharging from solar and may have to CCP and pay something

The aire we stayed at from across the canal

This gave us time to finish yet another 1,000 piece jigsaw
