A short trip down the road is Nordlingen, a beautiful walled town in Bavaria. The day we arrived was a bank holiday and I expected the aire to be rammed but there were quite a few places. Mind you we got there at 10:30am. We got a top spot under a big tree so we had shade all day. Over 30C again. Downside is no solar but we got an electric pitch as well. We must have pleased the God of Camping, (St Julian of Clary) because there was also 1:50 euro on the electric meter. Woo hoo.
Walked the short walk into town and had a look. Very quiet and not many places open with it being a Bank Holiday, in the UK it would have been the opposite.

As it was so hot we went into the Church and it was nice and cool. You can go up the tower for a few euros but we are both not great with heights and stairs.

Walked back after it had cooled down slightly and had a meal and a few beers at the Gasthaus Neue Welt.

The next morning we walked all the way around the town wall. It's the only one in Germany that totally surrounds the town.
Behind the aire is a travelling fair, the oldest in the world according to the German couple next to us. They have travelled just to visit the fair and says it is great, especially the beer tents so we stayed another night to have a look.
There was a big procession before the opening that took forever.

We had a look around the fair and it's crap compared to Hull fair (the biggest travelling fair in Europe). Actually its not crap its just not our cup of tea. It's a cross between Benidorm market and Hull fair with a lot of alchohol thrown in. Even though the aire is close to the fairground you couldn't hear it. What you could hear until 4am was the drunks in the carpark next to the aire.

What is good in the Kaufland just behind the fairground. Nice cheap German beer by the crateload.
Whats bad is we left Nordlingen without even having breakfast as we were rudely awoken by a road sweeper at 6am.
