Kutna Hora was among the largest cities in the world in the 15th century according to the guide books. Its wealth came from Silver mines some of which you can still go down and there are mining museums in the town.
Sedlec Ossuary just outside is where everyone was buried until they ran out of room. Then they dug them all up and piled all the bones in the church. Then they had that many bones they made chandeliers out of them. As you do!Then they charge people to look at the bones. That's where we come in. No pictures allowed to be taken inside so pictures are off the website. I first came across this on the Long Way Round with Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman and it stuck in my head.

With the boom in the population and then thousands dieing during the plague and war the small church at Sedlac was Holy ground because someone had brought a pocket full of dirt from the holy land. Everyone wanted to be buried there.
Opposite is a cathedral with more bodies in fishtanks. I really don't know what is going on but we have seen a few of these on view.

A half mile away is Autocamp Transit. Lovely well looked after campsite with about 15 pitches. 500czk without electric. What's weird is a car parked next to us and a couple slept in it for two nights.

We stayed another night so we could go into town on the bus. We had high hopes for Kutna Hara and the Cathedral Barbara was stunning.

Everything else was good but we expected more.
What was very good was the meal and beer in Restaurant Dacicky. We both had wild boar goulash with fruit dumplings, a "few" pints.
