I had read that Brno is the second city of the Czech Republic with lots of beautiful buildings. There ar a couple of aires a tram ride away from the town but I had found a campsite about 20 miles out of Brno on the river. Here there was the choice of getting to Brno via a river boat taxi and then the tram and this appealed to me.
We got to Camping Hana which is a small family site.

Camping Hana 22€.
After talking to the owner, who runs it with his mother who must be ninety, we decide against the river cruise and tram into Brno as it would take over two hours. This is because it stops that many times and when it gets to the reservoir it zig zags across. The owner told us to get the bus outside the campsite but go north to Kurim and then the train to Brno. the bus driver sold us the ticket that we could useon the bus and then the train. This was twice as fast.
The weather was a bit dull and so was Brno. There are lots of nice buildings and squares but all are occupied with markets, stages or even one with a boxing ring.

Square with market.

Square with boxing ring!

There are a lot of modern buildings similar to Prague I suppose and the old cathedral on the top of the hill is nice.

There is also another cellar full of bones which we didn't enter.

In one of the squares is another astronomical clock but this is modern. It looks like a massive gun shell. I started to read how to tell the time with it but gave up. To me it was ugly and art for arts sake. As one of the reveiws on Google says "My absolute favourite big black cock clock in the whole wide world"

Big oss.

We spent a full day going round and had lunch in Poupe brewery.

This place was shut unfortunatly.
Back at the campsite some old classic east German cars with tents on top arrived. You see lots of cars now (mostly Landrovers) with this idea but these were 65 years old Trabants.

They were very happy to be photographed.
