Due to a hospital inpatient stay in late February, with sojourns in both the stroke ward and then the neurology ward, I was advised to change the date of the trip from May to later in the summer.
I didn't have a stroke though. What did I have? It's unclear. At the time of writing late on April 22nd I am waiting for another MRI. The one I had during the 12 days I was in the hospital, showed some grey patches on my brain.
Although our Government claims waiting lists are coming down, simply not giving anyone a date could be the reason. When I saw the consultant, I was supposed to have had the MRI by now.
I had to change the dates on the ferry to Spain, first overnight, ferry back to UK. A total of £95 to change them. I had an AHC to avoid the EUPP hassles. Changing the date on that less than a month before collection also cost another £49.50.
The consultant and her team decided I had had a viral infection on my brain. I still have no memory of anything after having a lie down on Friday afternoon around 2pm and waking up in the Stroke Ward in the Kent and Canterbury Hospital on Sunday.
My wife called the ambulance as I "was out of it" and talking gibberish. I didn't know my name or where I was. Or so I am told.
It was quite frightening to hear this once I was awake and lucid. One good side, I lost 10lbs as the food was dreadful.
So we are back on track for a mid June ferry to Spain. Really lucky that we could get a pet friendly cabin at such a late stage on the Plymouth to Santander service. At least I freed up the one in May for someone else!!!!
