There is nothing quite like meeting up with other members. Being motorhomers and funsters means we all have something in common and this makes the conversation easy when we meet others for the first time. Thereafter, motorhomefun or the forum are hardly mentioned as we chat away about anything and everything, swopping stories about motorhomes, motorhome holidays or life in general, essentially making new friends, which for many, is so much fun.

In the 7 years of motorhomefun plenty of virtual friendships are made via the forums but many more strong friendships have been formed on the rally field. Our rallying numbers get bigger and bigger, but it's the smaller regional rallies where real friendships are forged and people have the most fun.

I will be producing a simple document next week showing how easy it is to organise something in your area. Yes there is a little bit of work, but the rewards are tremendous.

Maybe you already know a place that other clubs have been, or you know of a nice farmers field or a campsite with a rally field. Give it some thought; would you like to run a rally in your area? Look out for the document next week:thumb:

Remember that rallies don't mean you have to organise everything.

The first one we did was in November about 6 years ago and started off something like..........."our son has a long weekend due an extra school holiday we are going here does anyone want to join us"

It was posted about 3 weeks before the weekend itself and we had just 5 other sets of funsters join us but it was a memorable weekend. We have done it every year since.

As this event grew we became a little more organised doing mulled wine and bbqing in the open air in November.

When it reached 28 motorhomes the great thing is that everyone chipped in, whether it was a bottle of mulled wine, bag of charcoal, bringing food to share, helping with the washing up etc. or just making sure the mulled wine cauldron was topped up.

hope this helps. Honestly its not as daunting as it sounds :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Sounds like a great idea. I'm up for going to one as long as it isn't an excuse for everyone getting blind drunk and dancing around naked. Hmmmm, on second thoughts ....

The MCC have a great rally program all over the country. They rally in school playing fields, rugbyclubs etc. If they can do it, I'm sure we can.

Set in beautiful parkland adjacent to the medieval village of Cartmel, the racecourse offers acres of unspoilt grounds for caravans, camper vans and tents when we are not racing.
The racecourse is not available for touring campers every day, but we do have permission for public camping and tourers for a limited number of days by prior arrangement. We also regularly welcome large groups from caravan clubs, social clubs and similar organisations that are entitled to Exemption Certificates for camping activities from Natural England.

Facilities on non-racedays include 16 electric hook up points, showers, toilets and an elsan area . Hard standing areas are available in addition to the turf. Raceday facilities are more basic and electrical hook-ups are not available.

For more information please call the racecourse office on 015395 36340

We only ever go to rallies. They are great. :thumb:
Whether they are with the funsters or CCC, MCC or who ever.
We've never ever been to a show, somehow they've never appealed to us.
If we want to buy something for the Motorhome we research the item the go on line to see where we can get it the cheapest. Buying it when we need it .

Plus I couldn't be doing with loads of generators going off at all hours. It would drive me absolutely bonkers. :shout:

it's about meeting ppl not about buying stuff for the motorhome. In my opinion.

Maybe so , but rallies are usually a lot smaller so you get chance to meet lots of folk. Plus there's usually someone holding a rally most weekends , through out the whole year . So you can pick and choose where you want to go. Visit the local town /village and socialise with the attendees , as much or as little as you want to.

Sort out the form thingy Jim, and we may just do that. I can think of a few places that would be perfect .
But I may add they would be very free and easy if we did one. At a place where there'd be water and Elsan , that's it.
No quizzes , bingo, banjos or ukes. Just some back ground music , maybe, and plenty of chatting drinking of which ever kind , and a Jacobs table.
Probably no hook up and a ban on generators:winky:

Hi Sandra, we have just come back from Rutland Water, Lynton Top, I spoke to them and they are up for holding rallies there, they have lots of separate areas and we could have one for exclusive use, they also have a large barn that can be used if there were enough ralliers

This is way out of my are for me to arrange, but I have the literature to pass on to Jim or yourself at Southport or Stratford..

over a Year Yay................
I love meets & have been organising some for my T4 club & they generally have the same 4 people turn up but a whale of a time.

I notice Funsters are set almost over a week, I will organise one but it will mainly be a weekend meet as that's about all the time I can take off work without hitting the pocket to hard however you can garuntee a hoot & plenty of sore heads.
