Rally virgin ! (1 Viewer)

Popped up to Peterborough show late monday to have a look about.
Must ask what do you do all weekend at these rallies/meets?
I have never seen so many motorhomes in one place.
There was one bit that looked like Hymer only end lol.
Went to BMW Msport rally once and you had to park together.
Bought a few Led lights will spend more on there website getting the rest.
Got my fridge winter covers as well.
Looked at water filter machines.
Looked like a few deals were done and vehicles sold.
Think I would get board after 1 day homehome overload or is there more going on?
Few people were taking pictures of this old battered motorhome looked like it need a wash ask chap what was so special apparently it belongs to chap of some motorhome TV show.
Well any way ended up looking at a new motorhome Niesmann + Bischoff and mrs liked it £110k may have to upgrade now next year!
Have few weekends free coming up to get out and about

Our inaugural meet is Newbury & looking forward to it... we've been missing out since BFV was cancelled 2 years ago which was @ Malvern so that on the cards aswell...

We dont go to the motorhomeshows to look at motorhomes, we go because motorhomefun has a fabulous community.

We will have a trawl around the stalls but probably spend most of our time chatting to other funsters.

There is usually something to do, whether its sit and chill and chat
listen to music or be part of the band
pimms afternoons
tea and cake
bacon butties on sunday mornings at some meets

The wonderful thing about it is that often the most fun things that happen are not even preplanned.

There is also usually a coach laid on to take you into the town near the motorhome shows too. I always find the time flies by and has ended far too quickly.

Hope whichever one you choose as your inaugural meet is enjoyable.

As per Gail above, we didn't go to look at Motorhomes but simply to have some fun socialising and also a bit of a browse at bits and things.

After a day and a half of not looking at Motorhomes, we ended up buying a new Pilote A class oh:

Jim, the show itself is almost a sideline - it provides a destination with plenty of motorhoming stuff - but the real fun is rallying with the other funsters! Peterborough was our first show rally - and trust me - you won't get bored! Plenty of like minded people and putting faces to names and plenty of alcohol (or tea and cake - whatever floats your boat!) is what it's all about!
Book up for the next one - I highly reccomend it:thumb:

We were really taken with the G690 - huge (and I mean huge) lounge, Brit kitchen and big bathroom in 6,9 metres. Pick it up on 23rd when I'm back from next business trip. Just sorting the plate transfer and a few bits:thumb:

Pilote seem to have a very good reputation as do Hayes Leisure

Can't buy another one yet have only owned are current one from last November but looking at the ones there we need and end/island bed not transverse,
Did look and Hymer 614 bigger garage for our business but will keep this on for another year or so.
But dethleffs do one the fits the bill too think is Esprit i7151 a class!
Thanks for invites to rallys/meets will go to one soon but we work every other weekend and stay in the motorhome is great!

We are also rally virgins from Sunny Deb'n, so not only are rally's new to us but knives and forks and electricity as well.

We should both be footloose and fancy free from about July onwards this year and meeting some of the funsters community sounds like a top idea. If nothing else it will prove that the govenment policy of "Care in the Community" has been an abject failure as most of you lot sound like you would have been put away 30 years ago.

Are these rally's always at separately organised Motorhome Shows or are they more of an ad hoc thing? Is there some sort of calendar of rally's we can access?

What is so great about going to a Fun meet is the organisation of the event and the fun we all have.

I love the 7.15am rallying call we get over the tannoy system with Jim reminding us the day is about to start.

Time for a quick bowl of museli before the keep fit session we all attend outside the main marquee at 7.30. These 45 minutes are even better fun if it is not raining.

Then a quick towelling down before the morning service including hymns.

I think the following education session is one of the highlights of the day. My favourites have been...

How to start the generator.
How to fight off gassing attacks.
How to disguise your A frame at the Spanish border.
How to open your grey water tank tap secretly.

Then of course you get a free hour to attend the sales area so you can buy stuff which you will need in the afternoon's "Bring And Show Session".

Tea time is super as you now have a chance to nose around other Funsters' vans so you can criticise them on the drive home. If you are lucky you can scrounge a cup of tea and a Digestive.

Just before van lock in you have the chance to join the cassette emptying ritual... a queue in which you can tell sexist jokes as there are rarely any ladies there.

Lights out 8pm except if it is a special night when Line Dancing is on.

I especially like peeking at the Marshalls patrolling outside making sure all lights are out. I always leave mine on an extra minute or two because I am a rebel.

I thought you would have known straight away that the purpose was to provide a valuable education service to inexperienced young men, drawing on the expertise of our female membership for the ultimate benefit of the wider female population.

Do we have an instructors register?

Actually, I've had a rethink. Do we even have any inexperienced young men on the membership list? Maybe just a few who could do with a refresher course.
