I'm a newbie
We will venturing down to Ross-on-Wye this bank holiday Monday and would like some help with a good site to stay on close by, any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Smaller sites would be our preference.

Thanks
Melanie

Don't think so, Hay-on-Wye is in Powys where you can stay one night in seven in any Powys car park, Ross-on-Wye is in Herefordshire.

You definitely wont stay on a car park in Ross on Wye we live 5 miles away and at the moment very little car park space in Ross as they're building a new Aldi in the main car park.

There is a nice camp site just on the edge of town though the one Bungy put a link to Broadmeadow never stayed there but its very popular and was done up a few years back. Its really handy for the town only short walk and only 5 minutes from the M50.

Posh !!!! you're joking half the shops are closed and you'll struggle to hear English spoken on the street. Just outside Ross is a huge camp full of immigrant workers they come in every year to work on all the huge cooperative farms in Herefordshire.

Used to be a lovely little riverside town, still nice for a visit but unfortunately not as nice as it used to be nowadays.

ross on wye

we stayed at the town centre site, very close to morrisons supermarket, dont know if its the same warden but everything was extra, basic price for night was dear enough around £30 but extra charges for awning, clothes line etc etc, nice clean site but warden spoilt it kept walking around checking on us and other vans musnt do this musnt do that, like being in the army, everbody was talking about him, there are other sites around ross on wye and its well worth a visit, lets hope the Fuhrer has gone :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Stayed on the Broadmeadow site Sat night the warden seemed very helpfull, but there was a lot of rules.Good site for one or two nights wouldn't want to stay too long at their prices but great for town.On leaving Sunday (very wet) owner was all ready to tow us off and I thought he was a nice old guy.Told us all about how he made the site himself etc.:thumb:

Hi Melanie from here in Huddersfield.
We did the Ross-on-Wye trip last year, found a cracker of a site named:BROADMEADOWS CARAVAN PARK, gave it 10 out of 10 (they even have a real bath in the shower room!) Post Code for Sat. Nav:HR9 7BW
sorry to say the Town Centre left a lot to be desired, tired looking! hope you enjoy your trip, the surrounding countryside is stunning.

Ross on Wye town might leave you a little disappointed if you are looking for "posh" Ledbury although its not posh as such, might be more interesting for a look round and is only 20 or so minutes away
