Having driven past many, many of these pull off lanes in mountainous parts of Europe, I have never seen any vehicle in them or using them.

I was wondering...

A) Have any Funsters ever needed to use one?

B) Do you think it would be okay to over night in one seeing as how they are so often empty? :winky:

Should you not be better occupied helping Frankie sort her camper out than posting this gibberish .

Only since 2012, but I towed for many years
I saw a lorry use one in anger once, on a steep downhill approaching traffic lights. The gravel flew everywhere and the lorry went down in it, almost to its axles. It had to be towed out. I wouldn't recommend it for wild camping, unless you intended staying for a considerable time.

Mind you the grey waste would just disappear, without any tell-tale puddles.:ROFLMAO:

Give it a try JJ, but Sod's law dictates that one dark night the earth will move when 40 tons of runaway wagon readjusts the rear of your beloved van :Eeek::RollEyes:

On and off for many years.

A) Have any Funsters ever needed to use one?

Yes - well my uncle was driving (I was a passenger) a huge delivery truck and the brakes failed.

B) Do you think it would be okay to over night in one seeing as how they are so often empty? :winky:

No - for the reason given above.

JJ - Just remember you only have to watch "one" and then you have seen what you are going to see for every race this year and next. :thumb::thumb:

Probably the perfect spot to overnight. If someone approached with the intention of gassing you, the sound of feet on gravel would alert you. :ROFLMAO:
