becoming more regular.
VOSA may do a roadside check using portable scales or direct you to a ministry testing facility.......and you WILL go.

You can cure this problem by having the suspension beefed up, bigger turbo and uprated injector nozzles. If it looks OK, then it generally is. In the unlikely event of a pull into the chicken coup and if you are found to be overloaded, make sure your passenger has there bus pass as its much easier to leave them behind than unloading beer from the garage ::bigsmile:.

Yes and it's on the spot fines with a need to loose extra weight before you can continue your journey....

In some areas you dont even need to be stopped. Close to us on the M6 are weight sensors in the carriageway, they weigh trucks as they pass and compare with the Vehicle database.. You then get pulled over and dealt with further up the road.

since 2007 caravan before that
I have never been stopped since 2007 when we started with the Motorhome. We have travelled through England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France Belgium and Holland. That doesn't mean I wont be stopped though.

The guy at my local weighbridge always has stories of overloaded Motorhomes and caravans being fined. He says they allow 5% over before they fine you.

I am paranoid about weight so visit the weigh bridge every year and check axel weights and gross weight. I uprated with SV Tech, I dont believe my van was fit for purpose before the uprate.

cheers Steve

As Tonka points out, there are sensors on the M6 in the Midlands checking traffic as they pass.
The Central Motorway Police Group headquarters is between J6 and J7 of the M6 - access to both north and south bound, I've seen motorhomes in their inspection area on the daily run, normally lorries and vans.

Keeping us safe - they also post on twitter and facebook.

The hard shoulder running has just opened on this section, it seems to be helping when congested, which seems to be most of the time!

Stuck mine on a weighbridge the other week, 100kg over so sorted that. The guy there was telling me Vosa were pulling in lorries etc the week before and if overweight were getting charged £30 for every kilo over. This is on the A361 off J27 M5 heading for North Devon. Have seen them there a lot. :whatthe:
