We are heading down to Abbey wood CC site next week and wondered if anyone could recommend a nice stopover on the way. We will probably go via the M6/40 but open to suggestions, we plan on getting past Birmmingham on the Tuesday so we can have an easy run down on the Wednesday.

We don't mind where we stop be it a CL a pub or full campsite we are even open to wildcamping in a nice spot.

If you come down the M1 I would recommend Poolsbrook CC site just off Jct 29A. A new site with excellent facilities.

Stop Over

You could try Harbury Fields Farm Touring park just off the M40 near Leamington Spa. Stayed there last year on way to NEC Quiet site in the country. 01926 612457. I'm sure that that Britstops has somewhere in the area as well

Hi Gerry
If I can figure out what to do with our motorhome for the night, you could stay on our driveway. Failing that there is a Brit Stop just down the road - Farndon Fields Farm Shop. We are about 15 to 20 mins from the M6 and 10 minutes from the A14. LE169JP

Near M40

We have stayed here and can recommend it. Would be worth a phone call first though to check the state of the ground, as it's a grass site. Nice pub just down the road within walking distance.

I suppose Chapel Lane CC site is a bit out of your way. We'll be there for 3 nights starting tomorrow.

Graham this site was going to one of our choices as I have stayed there in the past and would be ideal for the night, also if i use the M40 i tend to come round the west side of Birmmingham as i find traffic not as bad. it will all depend on when we leave Dumfries and how far we want to get on the Tuesday my thoughts are getting past Birmmingham to avoid traffic next morning.

So we may see you there.

Site looks good and handy but a bit pricey at over £35 for 1 night or probably about 12 hours in our case.

Hi Sandra you could pay to put your MH in storage to save me paying for a campsite :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: only joking thanks for the offer but don't want to impose on anyone, the Brit stop bit looks ok but we might not be there until after closing time as I have a meeting at work until 12 and these never finish on time so might be around 2pm when we leave. If we came that way how far would it be from the motorway.

As for the CS we aren't members of ccc so might not take us, thanks again though for your ideas.
