If we can get away from child minding duties:RollEyes: we hope to attend the Carmarthen show in May. We will be travelling down from "up north", what route would you advise from the M5, straight down M5 - M4 and over Severn bridge, or come off at M50, A40, A449 to join M4 in Wales. There is not a lot of difference distance wise, but M50 route would avoid toll on bridge.

On the question of tolls, what do motorhomes get charged, ours is 3880kg

thanks John

Golly, I would go down the M50/A449 a MUCH more scenic route for sure - nice sights around Monmouth and Usk.

The MoHo Severn bridge toll is the same for a car - much to the annoyance of all van drivers. :roflmto: I think it's £6.40, but that's only into Wales - you could go back that route and not have to pay.

Thanks for that, if we go we will have to make the journey in one go, 370 miles:Eeek: as we have commitments on the Thursday, but looking on Google maps the A449 seems a decent road, will be able to take it easier on the way home.

That looks as good as some of the routes I have seen from autoroute:RollEyes:

I have not been to the Camarthen event but when we used to do a lot of diving in the Pembroke area we always used the M50.

When we towed a caravan we would use the cross country via Shrewsbury to Leominster route a lovely clear route down to Carmarthen with no tolls:Smile: our destination is always Tenby so a bit further on for us and well worth a visit a if your in the area.
We'll hopefully be going down for the Whitsun weekend . Looking forward to travelling in MH down there.

When my son lived in Carmarthen we also used the M50 route it can get very busy around Newport/Cardiff at rush hour but thins out once your passed there. Not too many places to stop on the M50 route but a great drive, :thumb:
