Route to south west france (1 Viewer)

hi,anyone done an alternative route to south west france, we're going down to puy-du-fou then the big sand dune.we usually go down through Rouen etc,but the road is so boring, it seems never ending. Don't fancy going near Paris neither, but one in the middle would be nice.
Ps..were do you lot park when coming off the train.is it cite Europe and is it easy to find,,We've always gone via the ferries and parked o/n in their ticket office car park.

there's no really convenient route between Rouen and Paris unless you're happy to take your time and go across country (just check the maps - loads of alternatives but none of them likely to be quick). however if you do get to south of Rouen then you can go Evreux/Dreux/Chartres/Chateudu/Vendome/Tours and then along the Loire. it really depends on how log you want to take to drive there.

going south from Puy du Fou, why not head to Royan and then get a ferry over the Gironde estuary and then south to Pyla, rather than going around Bordeaux. it breaks the journey up and adds a bit more interest

there's a m/h parking area at Cite d'Europe - just follow the signs from the Tunnel exit and then look for the m/h parking signs - it's on the Boulevard de Kent, which is on the east side of the Cite almost right next door to the tunnel check in tolls but you can't access it straight from the Tunnel complex.

We always find that bit boring too. Depending on how long you want to take travelling there, the coast road ( D940) from Calais through Boulogne and onto Abbeville is a nice route but will add an hour at least to your journey. Then onto the A28 and Rouen.....

If we have a late crossing, we usually head for Wissant. One aire in the village and 3 more up in the countryside a couple of miles inland. Great views over the channel..
We are travelling to Brittany for a couple of weeks tomorrow, we will be taking the A16 then A28 and A29 towards Caen then into Brittany. More boring roads, but time is limited this trip, house hunting..

there is that I s'pose but at least you have saved a few € by not using the autoroute and extra fuel mileage going via Bordeaux. as I said, it's an alternative.
