I'm struggling to find good solar panels just now.
I just bought by ebay auction from Ecoworthy and it is crap and I suspect a number of seller names are the same Chinese people selling the same crap. Great propaganda about quality control etc on their selling pages but not followed up by the product

In the past I've had real quality for good prices but they seem to be missing now

Yes avoid them
Attention to detail/quality control is a good sign of a well made unit. This is not evident with these.
They want me to post it to another customer/mug :roflmto: obviously I declined to do that.

Me? no I do get requests though and I can't deliver. It's hard enough between my regular work and weather but not being able to source good panels is unusual.

whilst the attention to detail is utter crap, some judicious resealing of components would ensure a serviceable unit. at That price I'd buy a few. As they currently stand they would barely last a year before they corrode and fail.

That's as maybe for DIY but not to pass on to a customer as a bodge .
If I fill a request I only do quality assured in every aspect.

Last year I paid £108 for each of my three and they are little gems. Panels proliferating ebay just now are iffy. There are good ones but I've not found them yet

Hi Andy,::bigsmile:
Bought ours from SUNSTORE , Solar Power Solutions
Tel. 084501800 654

Purchased online, and they forwarded to Somerset Motorhomes, who fitted.
Complete kit, all inclusive, and apparently very easy to fit. Works a treat !!

Hi Andy

I used three of these 80w as recommended at the time by a few people on MHF, looked OK to me but the price was the €74 each for the 80w.

The last time I bought a panel it was from Funster Mark at CLS who gave me a reasonable price.

This was some time ago before the cheap ones appeared. Maybe he can help.

Other than that... I do keep seeing whole fields with acres of panels all sloped skywards... I could pop out one night with my balaclava on and some spanners and "harvest" a few...

"But your Honour, I thought they were just growing there... honest Guv."

Mark from CLS fitted the panel I linked to in my previous post to my van and he was quite happy with the quality. Its working well and didn't seem to be obviously badly finished etc. i thought it was a decent price for a monocrystalline, so much so I was considering a second one :Eeek:

Try Mark from CLS, he has always done excellent jobs for me. He may cover Wales . He is mobile so comes to your van. Takes a few hours depends on what is required.

They do look good Martin but I notice both 80 & 100 are out of stock.
However Addie has sent me a link to some from Germany and they do look excellent. So next time I'm home for a week I'll have some delivered.

An update for you and a point to note about ebay

I bought a 100watt panel from seller ecoworthy2001 It was shipped from a warehouse by DPD. I immediately found it to be poor quality and contacted the seller with a view for them to collect it on the grounds that it was also not the dimensions advertised.
They gave me nothing but trouble even wanting me to send it to another (mug) customer :roflmto: or even have another customer collect it from me
I escalated the case with ebay who of course just gave out standard replies that I return it at my expense and they would refund all but my return postage even though it was not my fault.
The problem for ebay that tripped them up is that it was shipped from UK but the return address is hong kong and the seller wont provide a UK address.
Today they have refunded me in full and I keep the panel too :thumb:
I would not fit it myself as I regard it as B grade at best.

EDIT.purchase was made on March 1st and delivery was quick so about two weeks to resolve with ebay help

Not solar panels Andy, but I had the very same issue with the Ebay resolution centre, who advised me that on this occasion, they would refund me in full, but would refuse to do so again under the same circumstances, and put a mark against my account to that effect. :whatthe:

There are so many foreign traders on Ebay, portraying themselves as UK traders.

Cheers,

Jock.

Ok
Firstly it should look good
It should have all the solar cells perfectly arranged within the glass EVA sandwich and be square to the aluminium frame.
It should not be covered in sealant marks from sweat shop hands
A good sign of skimping is 2.5mm printed on the connecting cable

When you've seen enough examples of different panels it becomes obvious which are quality and ones that are grade b or worse.

This is not necessarily governed by the label on the back
