With high tech equipment and skilful preparation we crossed into Germany and visited three different dealers in search of a van for my Princess...

Current favourite is a Burstner...

Broken Link Removed

It is being worked on at the moment but has her favourite layout...

Broken Link Removed

If they can sort out various papers it might be a sale.

My Princess refuses to buy this van for me...

Broken Link Removed

...even though I said I would pay for the "Toad"...

Broken Link Removed

The (typical) Dealer Boss asked me if I knew an "Old-Mo".

Apparently he has left his little run about parked here for longer than agreed...

Now settled into a nearby hotel resting before the quest continues tomorrow...

HOTEL!:Eeek:

Yes.... Why? No hymer here! Only a rented car, that we will leave if any van found there and bought, at the nearest AVIS office, to only come back with van and save petrol and tiredness....

What are you thinking at man. Put your foot down and stop her buying that Burstner. You know the Opel Blitz is a better buy. Well at least it would be more fun. I will take the searchlight off your hands. Seriously, I dont envy your quest, Satisfying a French ladies desires is a very formidable task .

Second search day about to start...

I had a shower...

Must have used enough water to keep me going in the Hymer for over a week... you "Housies" and "Hotelers" are using all the world's most precious resource...

Now in tonight's hotel in the middle of Heilbronn.

Fair priced room and well happy that it is next door to an Indian Restaurant.

First van today was a Fiat Talento... owner was away but was shown it by a nice mechanic (bus) working for him.

Cracked shower tray got it crossed of the list.

A quick 100 km blast down the busy but excellent German road system brought us the second on the day's list... a Fiat Euro Mobile which looked pretty good to me despite the fact that the vendor, Damil from Croatia, was obviously running a very successful second hand vehicle business from the side roads of an industrial estate!

Judging by the car he was driving business is good.

Not able to get the right paperwork put pay to the deal...

I really wanted my Princess to buy this one just for the stories you could recall in the evenings at Fun meets!

(He was a Bayern Munich fan though so he doesn't deserve any of her money...)

A short trip to a vendor from the other end of the scale. A very friendly German dealer with two big operations and the Fiat Pilote was his own (very well maintained) family weekend motorhome...

Sadly is was crossed off the list instantly as it had the old style foot pedal layout which would cause Frankie to twist (and strain) her back should she try to drive it.

So a short trip to this hotel... A couple of "pings" on the bell in reception... And a lie down while I post this.

Much more information has been gained today after calls to the French authorities re the paperwork needed for importing any purchase so we have moved forward...

A Lamb Korma I think... or maybe a Lamb Passanda...

Just been told off as this post is taking too long...

Be good everyone...

Here it is...

20140305_150633_zps4a6e0e73.jpg

A deposit has been paid.

Tomorrow we go and buy the plates.

After visiting all these dealers it was a joy to find this family owned business "my Caravaning" who actually wanted to help us buy one of their vans.

20140305_151029_zpsb31b4ae2.jpg

Father Sakip and son and daughter Mahout and Serap Yardimci...

20140305_151710_zps0e9b5701.jpg

Uncle Rakip will take us to get the plates whilst Mahmut contacts Hymer (once more) to arrange the necessary Certificate of Conformity needed to register the van in France.

After all the shrugs and general indifference shown to us so far this company was a breath of fresh air.

They have a large stock of vans under €20,000 and many under €10,000.

They are used to selling for export to different countries and seem to know the ropes.

Of course the "Fat Lady" hasn't sung yet and nothing is bought until all the money has been paid but it would very disappointing if this one fell through...

Frankie loved driving it...!

Thank to all for your support and constant efforts to help me finding MY motorhome !!!:thumb:

I have been disappointed and put off more than once in the past! I wouldn't say it is the very one I wanted but certainly very near to it.

As JJ said.... it's not ALL done but indeed I can't say "No" now , even if after a call to the french authorities I was a tad gutted with all the money they ask for this or that!

Anyway just hoping now nothing will stop the whole deal!!

Again as JJ said very nice people indeed, helpful, smiling, ... worth the travel .... I am sure a few of you will take the plunge too!

The motorhome might have to stay a few weeks in the garden while papers get ready (I would think about 2 months.... because I WORK and can't ask straight away for more days off!) Will let you know! And.... if all goes well ...... I might have a bottle of Champagne ...... Now where is Champers? I'm sure she would like to have a few of my bubbles!!!...

KATH?..... Any bubbles????

Amicalement à tous
