Get the new van in March and just enquiring about changing the insurance on our old one, (which does not expire till October) transferred over to the new one.. They are both Autotrail Trackers EKS. SE. So just the value changes.. I am insured through Frank Pickles and have been told I may LOSE the remainder of the insurance as it is not refundable !!! Don't like being "shafted" by big companies !! Pickles are just a brokerage, so are underwritten.. Anyone had experience of this sort of dealing ???? Mitch. PS.. C.Club have quoted £224 for insurance, including 270 days touring Europe, so want to go with them... Mitch. Still dealing, so will tell you the outcome...

Your brokers are trying to pull a fast one I think. To be honest I don't use a broker anymore as a bit of Googling will throw up any number of companies who will offer insurance and you can just deal with them directly.

Do you have to go through the broker for this change? Your policy or certificate of insurance should give a name or telephone number of the underwriters you are with. Try ringing them, even if it is the number they give you to ring in the event of an accident. Explain you are just trying to change the vehicle insured and they should be able to put you onto the right person.

Result. !!

Just had a phone call from a lovely lady called Jane from Frank Pickles, she has managed to get the transfer done for a fee of £ 60 ish... But beware folks, most specialist vehicle insurers do not give a refund after 90 days of insurance have passed !!!! But I am now calming down... Mitch.

We recently changed MH and when we rang to change the details we were told we would have to take out a new policy as our original one only covered up to 20k, then to add to insult if we cancelled the policy we would OWE THEM money in cancellation fees.

On the recommendations of funsters we have now gone with Comfort insurance and left our old policy running. There was no, no claims on it anyway.

That happened to me when the foreign driver wrote off my (parked) car. The insurance claim has just been settled 4 years later.

I went direct to the underwriters but they just pointed out small print said transfer of policy to another vehicle and no refund with an outstanding claim..... needless to say when I did buy another car I did not use the same insurance company. I did keep my no-claims bonus as it was protected and the foreign driver had admitted 100% fault.

We changed our van last year and Comfort made no charge to switch the remaining time on the policy to the new one (that was about 4 months left).
Have now just renewed with Comfort who quoted £335 with 365 day Europe cover (max 180 day one stay) and full Europe breakdown/recovery for 10k miles pa.
Very happy with that - asked Guardian who quoted near £500.

Can't remember ;)
Just going through a similar thing with insurance from pick up to car ::bigsmile:The broker must think I am stupid -
quoted me £278 to insure car plus £100 to insure( 1 mths :Eeek:) truck without no claims because it's now going to be used on car :Smile:TOTAL £378:Eeek: Told him I can get car insured for £189 and cancel truck ins giving me £35 back then I can get a monthly ins on truck for £33 for 30 days TOTAL £187 Plus he is now trying to say I cannot use no claims until I cancel and have returned cert of ins so I will have to insure car without no claims  Told him he's a pillock and the new insurers have already said they will wait for proof of no claims until I have surrendered it ::bigsmile:They will simply wait a week then phone them up to confirm it :thumb:

Sounds to me as if your insurance company wanted their cut!

We have been with Safeguard for four years now, we sold the Elddis in August last year and bought the Dakota.
We were insured until December with Safeguard, we gave them change of details etc and they gave us a fresh quote........no admin charges for changeover, no charges for the change of registration.
We recently took our son's off the insurance and they did say that they could have charged us an admin charge for this......but they didn't:thumb:
We've been really pleased with Safeguard, had no problems with them at all. We're paying £260 a year with them.
