OFF TO WEDDING AT GRETNA IN AUGUST. ANY NICE CAMPSITES OR WILD CAMPING PLACES NEAR TO " SMITHS HOTEL GRETNA GREEN." THE HOTEL IS A BIT TO MUCH FOR A POOR GEORDIE PENSIONER LIKE ME SO WE THOUGHT WE WOULD TAKE MOTORHOME IF POSSIBLE.

i can sympathise.....

We are going to a wedding in may........booked into the wedding hotel for 2 nights inc continental breakfast.

£140pn for two of us....and if we want a full scottish breakfast thats another £9 each, thank you very much sir.

A glass of red wine in the bar is allegedly £9 and a pint of lager for £4.50 :Eeek:

Robbing barstewards.

Since 2005 ish
Ask the hotel if you can overnight in their car park.
We did for our nieces engagement and two years later for the wedding.
Worst they can do is say no.

Cheers. Nige

We've parked in the coach park at the Gretna Gateway Centre in the past and wondered whether we could "overnight" there. You could phone the information office at the Gateway Centre and ask..........they can only say no.

Others have given you some useful commercial sites. Give me a day or two and I will have a shuffty for wild sites. I mosey around there quite a bit but never looked for places as it is too much on my doorstep !

Stayed at Braids a couple of times when heading south ,fairly basic but ideal for getting to wedding. Taxi no more than £5 each way

We have stayed at the Garden centre directly across the road from the Chapel, in fact we had to stay three nights until a big gale died down.
Real nice owner, insisted we park behind his large hedge as shelter.
Cannot remember the name, but will ask round.
