Spent our first night 'wild' camping on the dunes near Lagoa de St Andre, just south of Lisbon. And wild was the word!! The wind blew so hard the van rocked, the rain thundered on the roof and the waves pounded up the beach the other side of the dunes!! :Eeek: At one point during the night I was dreaming that the sea had come over the dunes and the movement of the van was us actually floating away!! :helptitanic:

Anyway we now feel we are proper motorhomers! We are now in our 4th week, the longest we've ever been away in the van and the first time in Europe. We took 10 days travelling down to Zahora for Mo's birthday, stayed there a week and then moved on to Pedro's in Portugal for a few days. We then headed towards Lisbon to meet up with some friends. We are now heading back south and stopped overnight up in the mountains at Monchique. We have another 10 days before we head back home and will spend some time at JJ's meet in Portimao and another few days at Pedro's, and anything else that takes our fancy. Unfortunately the weather forecast for the next week or so is rather wet

As usual it's been a bit of a learning curve but we've loved every minute!! :thumb:

We don't call them tin tents for nothing. There's no escape. Our first big EU trip ended like that in Venice. In May !

Last year in Germany we saw tide marks a metre or so high where we parked by the Rhein.

It's time these bloated EU ministers fixed the weather, they get paid enough.
